Cheonan pork rib restaurant: salt vs spicy at Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul
In short
Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul is a pork rib restaurant in Seongjeong-dong, Cheonan, Chungnam. I loved the tender ribs said to be aged for over 100 hours, plus the generous table spread, steamed egg, and soft tofu stew. Verdict: a great spot for ribs and drinks in Seongjeong-dong.

Today I was craving savory, super-tender jjokgalbi (Korean pork back ribs) like crazy, so I visited the newly hot Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul Cheonan Seongjeong branch haha ❤
They use only meat carefully aged for over 100 hours, plus a house-developed special sauce, so word of mouth has really been spreading lately!?!??!?! I love jjokgalbi so much that I go buy some every month. The place I used to visit changed in flavor, so I was wandering from place to place—but after this visit, I completely fell in love, hahaha. This is a Seongjeong-dong meat restaurant that rib lovers will definitely enjoy, so let me hurry up and tell you about it.

Location and atmosphere of this Seongjeong-dong pork rib spot
Guys... why is this place so popular.... I passed by it all the time, but I was surprised that it was packed even on a weekday lol. People just kept coming in. But once I tasted it, I understood haha.
Anyway, it is in the Seongjeong-dong food alley before Lotte Mart—like, the Seongjeong-dong bar street?! Around there. I think you all know the area.

Hahaha, it is delicious, so I have to spread the word far and wide to my neighbors. This place is seriously the best. Especially if you drink, just go here. I am settling in here too....

Pork rib menu and ordering
The star of the menu is, naturally, jjokgalbi. There are so many kinds: salt pork ribs, barbecue pork ribs, spicy pork ribs, garlic pork ribs, cumin pork ribs, and even honeycomb pork skin. The sides are varied too.
- Doenjang sulbap (rice in soybean-paste broth)
- Soft tofu stew
- Steamed egg
- Scorched rice
- Extra cheese
- Spicy ramen
This really seems like a place made for drinkers hahahahaha.

I ordered the salt and spicy ones. They said it would take about 15 minutes. If waiting is hard, go go and reserve with the restaurant before you arrive~~~ But no no-shows, okay lol.

Generous table spread and self-service bar
After ordering, they set out the table spread. Ahh lol, I fell for it when I saw this... The place I used to go to does not give you side dishes like these... It is not this generous... This place is the best...
So many of my favorite side dishes came out. You can use the self-service bar if you need more, too. Keep that self-service bar in mind! You can also enjoy ice cream for dessert.

Whew, what a generous spread at Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul, this great Seongjeong-dong restaurant in Cheonan. Steamed egg and soft tofu stew came out too. They soothe your stomach before the meat arrives.

Putting par-grilled pork ribs on the grill
Finally, the main dish arrived. It comes neatly par-grilled once in the kitchen, and just seeing it beautifully arranged with green onion made me swallow hardㅠㅠ It is soooo pretty, right? You can eat it right away, but everyone was putting it on the grill, so I did too hahahahahaha.
Isn't this visual insane~~~~~~~~ I am a regular here now. I just decided that starting yesterday.

Maybe because the meat had been aged for over 100 hours, I could feel how tender it was just by lightly touching it with my chopsticks. And it was even more tender in my mouth hahaha. Wow, this place is tasty. Go to this Seongjeong-dong meat restaurant, go here.

Light, savory salt pork ribs
Personally, one thing I loved was this restaurant's grill, I guess hahaha. The visual is crazy~~~~
I ordered the salt pork ribs because I thought I should try the basic flavor. They were light, yet savory with every bite; the meat was tender rather than dry. Not one bit dry—seriously so soft and tender that I ate them in amazement. Really, they are so tender.... The onion salad? Pickled onions? What do you call that? Anyway, eating it with that keeps it from feeling greasy, so I could eat endlessly;;;;

Spicy pork ribs with a peppery aroma
I also wanted something spicy, so I ordered the spicy pork ribs. They are thoroughly coated in the house-developed special spicy sauce. I am not especially good with spicy food, but I have a pretty average tolerance, you know??? And these were not very spicy! There was also a strong pepper flavor, so if you like pepper, I think you will like these?!!?1 Next time I might try the barbecue flavor too. It sounds delicious hahahaha.

At Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul Cheonan Seongjeong branch, the pork ribs said to boast ultimate tenderness from 100-hour aging were perfect with the substantial side dishes and the stew-plus-steamed-egg combo! If you want to properly gnaw on pork ribs in Seongjeong-dong, Cheonan, or are looking for a meat restaurant with a nice, slightly old-school local vibe, I highly recommend stopping by and trying it hahahaha. I am going to be a regular from now on~~~~~~~~ There is a reason places are busy....
