On the way back from a trip to Taean, I stopped by Mikado Sushi to demolish some Seosan sushi! I love conveyor-belt sushi so much that I'd already been to the Gunsan branch, but this was my first time at the Seosan branch, so I was super excited haha 😊

Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch is located in Seongnim-dong. There are tons of restaurants around the area, but Mikado Sushi totally stood out among them, super easy to spot!
Where do you park at Mikado Sushi?
There's a separate parking lot right in front. It's normally paid, but if you use the store you can get your parking registered and use it for free~ On your way out after your Seosan sushi meal, a staff member will offer to register your parking, so just give them your license plate number.
Arriving at noon on a public holiday: wait time and bar seating
I visited around noon on a holiday. Luckily two seats were open at the bar table so I got in right away, but customers kept streaming in right after me. If you visit after 12pm, do keep in mind there may be a wait. You can join the waitlist through Catch Table! There are waiting seats right next to the entrance so it's comfortable to wait there~
Since Mikado Sushi is a conveyor-belt sushi place, most of the seating is bar tables, with a few 4-person tables. When I visited, there was a party of 3 waiting, but a 2-person spot opened up first so I got seated before them. Just something to keep in mind~
How ordering works at Mikado Sushi and what a plate costs
Let's go over how to use this Seosan sushi favorite! At Mikado Sushi, every plate is a flat ₩2,100 no matter the plate color. You just grab whatever sushi comes around on the rotating rail, and if what you want isn't on the rail, check the sushi menu in front of you, write your order on the sticky note at your seat, and hand it to a staff member. There's usually no time limit on your meal, but if there's a wait, it gets capped at 1 hour 30 minutes, so keep that in mind~ For more detailed instructions, check the photos.
Since it was right at mealtime, all kinds of sushi were rolling by on the rail! There was even cake, fruit, and jelly for dessert 😊

Abalone, sweet shrimp ankimo and gamtae-topped sushi
From left: abalone, sweet shrimp with egg, tilapia, and sweet shrimp ankimo (monkfish liver). Since Seosan is famous for gamtae (dried laver), there were a lot of menu items using it haha. Super satisfying!
Egg mayo was the best plate of the meal
This one's egg mayo, tilapia, ankimo, and sweet shrimp crab. There were quite a few sweet shrimp varieties and they were all delicious~ I already love egg and eat it a lot, and egg mayo was the best of all the egg sushi 😆 The ankimo was great too :) I loved that there were so many sushi made with ingredients I already like~
Beef brisket with wild garlic, temaki and the avocado flying fish roe hand roll
We also had beef brisket with wild garlic, temaki, flatfish, mega shrimp, eel, and an avocado flying fish roe hand roll~ Personally I find regular beef a bit chewy so I tend to go for beef brisket instead! It went so well with the wild garlic. The temaki and hand roll were tasty too. My partner had the mega shrimp and said something like sweet shrimp is more his taste 🤣 The flatfish and eel were a solid, steady kind of delicious! We also ate squid, whelk, and various other sushi beyond this. Conveyor-belt sushi places always leave me stuffed...!
Why one flat price makes Mikado Sushi easy on the wallet
Being a flat-rate spot definitely makes this Seosan sushi favorite feel less pressuring to order from. If it were too pricey, my partner, who eats a lot, would have to stop halfway through ㅠㅠㅠ haha. In that sense, Mikado Sushi has great value for money, and the taste isn't bad either! With such a wide variety of sushi, it's a good spot for anyone, kids included.
Takeout is available too! There are basic recommended sets, but you can also choose your own sushi, so packing up a box with your favorite picks works out great too. Just something to keep in mind~
