I was craving sushi in Seosan, so my boyfriend and I went to Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch!

Parking is at the free dedicated lot right in front of the restaurant.

I drove there and it was so convenient having a big dedicated lot right in front of the store! If there's no space in the front lot, you can also use the dedicated lot next to the restaurant. It's near Seongnim Middle School and Seosan Medical Center, so accessibility by public transit seemed decent too.

The interior is fairly spacious and pleasant. With big windows letting in light, it has a bright feel that would work well for a family meal out too.

I visited with my boyfriend, just the two of us, and there was a good variety of seating — a bar table great for couples, plus a group table for four.

While we were eating, I actually saw a solo diner too. Since you can just sit at the conveyor belt and pick whatever you want, it seems like a low-pressure spot for anyone looking for a place to eat alone in Seosan.

As soon as we were seated at the bar table, they brought out a savory soup right away! It came in an insulated kettle so it was really warm and tasty.

You can pick sushi straight off the conveyor belt, but all the sushi types are listed right in front of you, so you can write what you want on a memo slip and hand it over — and they make it up really fast!! Sometimes you put in an order and wait forever, which kills the flow and isn't great, haha, but at Mikado Sushi they really got it to us right away.

Every plate a flat 2,100 won

I visited on a Saturday for lunch, and the sushi on the belt was stacked two to three tiers high. The variety was so wide with nothing repeating that I ended up just grabbing plates without even glancing at the menu 😌

What I liked best was definitely that every single plate is just ₩2,100. At most conveyor-belt sushi places, prices vary by plate color, so you end up checking the price and hesitating before picking one up — but here, since every price is the same, you don't have to think about that at all, which was so nice. Ten plates and it's only ₩21,000~~

The fish looked really fresh too, and the texture was great across the board.

I could really enjoy the fun of picking-and-choosing that's unique to conveyor-belt sushi, without worrying about the cost. Having actually eaten it, the overall quality was good enough that the ₩2,100 price felt almost unbelievable.

Recommended sushi

I've always loved salmon sushi, so that day I picked several different salmon types too. If you visit Mikado Sushi, I really hope you try the salmon varieties!

Among them, my absolute favorite was the salmon belly sushi. It's oilier and softer than regular salmon, so it melts in your mouth, and the salmon's characteristic savory flavor comes through even richer. Even setting the price aside, it was satisfying purely on taste, so I'd order it again for sure next time. Highly recommend for anyone who loves salmon, haha.

Bluefin tuna belly can sometimes be too mushy and watery-tasting at other places, but at Mikado Sushi it was soft and savory and so delicious! I even ordered an extra plate near the end, haha.

My boyfriend's favorite pick was the beef tartare sushi. He generally prefers meat sushi or eel sushi over raw fish sushi, and since the beef tartare wasn't chewy at all and had a nice savory flavor, he ended up eating three plates of it lol.

Beyond raw fish, there's also a good range of meat and eel sushi, so it seems like a great place to visit together even if you and your companion like different types of sushi. The shrimp wasn't fishy at all either, and was sweet and delicious!!

The fish was fresh and the variety was wide, so there wasn't really a dish I was disappointed with. And just because the price is low doesn't mean the quality feels cheap at all! If you love salmon like me, try the salmon belly sushi, and if you love meat sushi, try the beef tartare sushi! This is a place I'd want to return to whenever I'm in Seosan and want to pick through a variety of sushi without worrying about the cost.
