I visited Seosan Jonghap Eosijang (서산종합어시장), a new sashimi restaurant in Seosan. I went as part of a sponsored campaign, but I also paid out of pocket for some extra menu items, so here's my honest review.
Where is Seosan Jonghap Eosijang? Hours and parking
- Address - 1007 Nambusunhwan-ro, Seosan-si, Chungcheongnam-do
- Hours - Daily 11:30 am to 3:00 am the next day
- Parking lot located behind the restaurant

Seosan Jonghap Eosijang is located in Yecheon-dong, Seosan. There's a separate parking lot behind the restaurant, so I didn't have to worry about parking when I arrived. It was pretty busy that day so I couldn't get photos of the interior, but the space felt bigger than expected with generously spaced tables — it looked like a fine spot for a group visit too.

The menu at Seosan Jonghap Eosijang, from live sashimi to fried food for kids
True to a good Seosan sashimi spot, there's a wide range of live-fish sashimi and seasonal seafood on offer. Beyond the sashimi menu, there are also fried dishes that kids would enjoy, so there's something for everyone depending on your taste. Adults can enjoy fresh sashimi and seafood while kids stick to fried food or side dishes — it seemed like a good place for a family visit.

Side dishes and the self-serve bar with tteokbokki and pork cutlet
Once we sat down, the basic side dishes were served neatly. Seaweed soup came out along with corn salad, lettuce wraps and ssamjang (dipping sauce), and minced garlic, all good to pair with the sashimi.

If you need more side dishes, you can help yourself at the self-serve bar, which has various banchan (side dishes) as well as tteokbokki and pork cutlet.

Ordering is done easily via kiosk.

We ordered flounder (medium), boiled squid, a sashimi rice bowl, and half-and-half fried shrimp and squid. We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered one of each type. The prices weren't too heavy on the wallet either, so it was easy to order a variety of dishes.

How was the flounder sashimi (medium)?
The flounder sashimi felt fresh, as you'd expect from a good Seosan live-fish sashimi spot. The slices were cut thick, giving a chewy texture with each bite, and there was no fishy taste at all — clean and addictive. Before I knew it, the plate was empty. It paired especially well with soju, making for a light and satisfying drinking snack.

It's good dipped in chojang (vinegar-chili sauce) or wasabi, and also good wrapped with perilla leaf and garlic — try it different ways depending on your taste.

Boiled squid (ojingeo sukhoe)
The boiled squid wasn't overcooked, so it had a nice chewy texture rather than being tough. There was a mild, savory sweetness particular to squid, and dipping it in chojang added a tangy-sweet flavor that boosted the appetite. Eating it alongside the sashimi gave a nice contrast in texture, making it a good thing to alternate with between bites.

Sashimi rice bowl (hoedeopbap)
The sashimi rice bowl was generously loaded with fresh sashimi and vegetables, making it pretty filling. Mixing it up with chojang gave it a tangy-spicy kick that really woke up the appetite. If we'd only had sashimi it might have felt a bit lacking, but the rice bowl on top left us fully satisfied.

Half-and-half fried shrimp and squid
We were already pretty full, but felt short on drinking snacks haha, so we ordered the half-and-half fried dish. Half shrimp, half squid, so we got to try both. The batter was fried nice and crispy, savory and delicious. The fried shrimp had plump shrimp inside with a satisfying springy texture, and the fried squid was chewy without being tough, pairing well as a drinking snack.

Who should visit Seosan Jonghap Eosijang?
The snacks were so good the drinks kept flowing — the two of us ended up going through 5 bottles of soju haha. The prices weren't too heavy either, so we happily ordered a variety of things from sashimi to boiled squid, the rice bowl, and fried food.
If you're looking to try fresh live-fish sashimi and a variety of seafood in Seosan, I recommend Seosan Jonghap Eosijang — you can enjoy multiple dishes without breaking the bank, and the spacious restaurant makes it good for family meals or group gatherings. You can enjoy a generous spread from sashimi to seafood, so it's comfortable to dine here even in a larger group. If you're looking for a place to eat sashimi in Seosan, this one is worth a visit.
