Why Bueokgan Sangmu Branch works for a group meet-up in Gwangju

Today I'm introducing Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, where we went to hang out. The address is 25 Seogwangju-ro, Seo-gu, Gwangju, hours are 11:00–22:00 with a break time from 16:00–16:30, and last order is at 21:00. There's a parking lot!

There are a lot of shops nearby and plenty of street parking, so check carefully as you come in.

Saturday noon at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch: book on Naver first

We booked through Naver Reservation! We went at 12pm on a Saturday and the place was packed... everyone behind us was on the waitlist! If you're planning to visit Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, please, please make a reservation!!!!

What three people get in the Bueokgan set menu

We went with the set menu. It comes with salad, soup, pizza, pasta, risotto, and 2 drinks — since there were three of us, we only added one extra drink!!! The base set price is fixed, and each menu item shows an add-on charge like (+₩2,000).

Mushroom grill salad: the dish for mushroom lovers

The mushroom grill salad is made with grilled mini king oyster mushrooms and oyster mushrooms. Recommended if you love mushrooms, but if even one person in your group doesn't like them, I'd suggest a different salad instead. The mushroom aroma soaks into the whole salad and there are several mushroom varieties in it hahahaha. As a mushroom-loving human, I found the sauce and the mushrooms fresh and delicious.

Abalone cream risotto, ordered again after the Dongmyeong branch

I'd tried the abalone cream risotto once before at the Dongmyeong branch. So this time I ordered it without a second thought. It's a rich abalone innard sauce combined with cream, abalone, and clams, topped with fried enoki mushrooms! As a mushroom-loving human, I loved this too.... It was thick and rich, really hit the spot!!! Recommended.

Pastry soup: dipping pastry into sweet pumpkin soup

The pastry soup is a warm pumpkin soup topped with pastry that you scoop up as you eat. The pumpkin is sweet, and tearing off the pastry to dip it in — so good!!!!!!!! Also recommended. I'm just recommending everything at this point....

Shrimp rosé pasta: plump shrimp, but a mild cream flavour

For the shrimp rosé pasta — I tend to order shrimp rosé pasta wherever I go, because it's delicious, y'know... lalala. The shrimp were plump and really tasty. Personally I wish the sauce had more of a creamy flavor. Next time I want to try the shrimp anchovy oil pasta.

The upside of every dish arriving at once

With the drinks already out and pizza about to arrive, we waited. At Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, dishes tend to come out all together, so we got to take a ton of photos and dig in all at once — loved that. But since it's a popular place, there's some wait even after ordering, so keep that in mind!

How to split the rocket prosciutto pizza three ways

The rocket prosciutto pizza is a light pizza topped with rocket and prosciutto. The pizza's size was kind of all over the place hahahaha, guess they were super busy.... T.T

A tip for the rocket prosciutto pizza! Make sure to divide up the veggies, ham, and cheese in the middle evenly. If you just grab whatever's closest, the ham ends up piled on one side, so one person gets too salty a bite while another gets a suspiciously 'healthy' cheese-only slice hahaha. Split up what's in the middle properly so no one fights over it!!!!

What to do near Bueokgan Sangmu Branch after lunch

Bueokgan Sangmu Branch was so, so good — I wanted to try all the other menu items too.... Next time we'll come back and demolish more pasta and pizza. After eating, there's a Uniqlo, Daiso, and Starbucks nearby, so there's plenty to do — perfect spot for a visit! Just make sure to reserve ahead~~~~ A great hangout spot in Gwangju — highly recommend the Sangmu branch!
