Today I'm writing up my visit to Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, which I found while looking for a nice-atmosphere spot in Sangmu, Gwangju! Bueokgan is a restaurant serving pasta, pizza, salad and more, and the vibe is really lovely. It seemed like the kind of place people go for blind dates or wedding-invitation gatherings — on the day I visited there was a table doing exactly that 💗

Parking: the lot behind the building

You can use the parking lot by going around the back of the building, which took a lot of the worry out of visiting! For anyone in Sangmu looking for a restaurant with parking, Bueokgan seems like a solid option 👍

Is Bueokgan Sangmu Branch good for a date or a wedding-invitation gathering?

The lighting is soft and the tables aren't crammed together, so it's a comfortable space for a relaxed meal with a friend or a partner. I saw a lot of people there on dates or in groups, and the pretty atmosphere made for good food photos too 💗

Made with napa cabbage instead of the usual salad greens, this had a bit of a different feel from a regular salad! The crunchy cabbage topped with caesar dressing gave a nutty, salty flavor. Great as a light bite before the main dishes!

I ordered the set menu (couple set), and the set seemed like the better deal price-wise — the drink basically comes along for free with it.

A clean, plain pizza base topped with fresh rocket (arugula) and prosciutto — pretty from the moment it hits the table. The salty prosciutto plus the distinct aroma of rocket made it taste fresher than your typical topping pizza! With tomato and cheese added in, it was a great combination overall!

This came out piping hot in a stone-pot-style bowl. Personally I prefer tomato pasta over cream pasta — the tangy, savory taste of the tomato sauce really suits my palate! The sauce was loaded with seafood too, so if you like tomato pasta this is a dish you really can't go wrong with!!

Walking to Uniqlo, Top Ten and Daiso after the meal

With the atmosphere, food, and parking all working in its favor, this was a great place to visit. There are cafés nearby too, plus Uniqlo, Top Ten, and Daiso, so it's a good spot to eat and then wander around! It's all walkable, so it's a good area to stroll off your meal afterward!!

It's been a while since I had a nice meal with some atmosphere to it, and I'm very satisfied. I recommend Bueokgan in Sangmu — highly recommend it as a date spot ♥️☺️✌️
