A Songdo lunch that called for warm broth
On a day when the cool autumn breeze felt especially lovely, I headed to Songdo in Incheon for a little outing and restaurant-hopping for the first time in a while. I wondered what to have for lunch, then found myself craving something warm and soupy, which led me to Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch, known as a good spot in Songdo’s District 1.

Even the exterior had a neat, hanok-inspired feel, so my anticipation was building before I stepped inside. Places like this somehow make me even more curious! I happily debated what to order while looking over the menu.

Chicken kalguksu, chicken gomtang, and a spacious dining room
The menu caught my eye with its main dishes of chicken kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and chicken gomtang (chicken soup), along with Eonyang-style chicken kalguksu and more. The sides included chewy dumplings, spicy pepper steamed chicken, soy sauce steamed chicken, and suyuk (boiled sliced meat). Such a solid lineup, right? When I opened the door, the bright, tidy interior made a great first impression.

There were plenty of tables with lots of space between them, making it really comfortable to eat. Even during the lunch rush, it seemed like you could enjoy your meal without feeling crowded. There were also plenty of high chairs, so families visiting with children could dine comfortably too. I really appreciated that thoughtful touch.

Tablet ordering and a self-service side-dish station
Ordering was simple with the tablet installed at every table. Systems like this are so convenient these days. For side dishes, you can use the self-service station: besides the spicy kimchi served as standard, you can pick up extra side dishes and tableware there yourself.

At the self-service station, useful items such as tongs, scissors, and small plates were neatly arranged.

Best of all, there was plenty of fresh spicy kimchi, so I could help myself without feeling self-conscious. Chicken kalguksu and spicy kimchi are simply the best together!

Creamy-broth chicken kalguksu and chicken gomtang
Those thoughtful details made the meal even more satisfying. At last, our chicken kalguksu and chicken gomtang arrived.

The chicken kalguksu, with its milky-white broth and generous portion, looked incredibly appetizing. I tasted a spoonful of broth first, and its rich, deep flavor warmed me from the inside out—I couldn’t help but sigh in appreciation.

A large half chicken was included whole, making it wonderfully filling, and the meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth.

And the noodles! They were nicely thick with a pleasantly chewy bite, pairing perfectly with the rich broth. I enjoyed every bit of it.

The deep chicken-broth flavor and the kalguksu worked so well together.

Add a piece of spicy kimchi and the flavor becomes twice as good. In that moment, I wanted for nothing in the world.

It was a wonderful Korean restaurant for a hearty lunch with friends, a partner, or family. There was a notice saying the chicken kalguksu noodles are cooked every 15 minutes, and perhaps that was why they were so springy and delicious.

It was such a satisfying time, enjoying delicious chicken kalguksu in a clean, pleasant space.

Three takeout options to choose from
There were three takeout options too, so it seemed perfect for enjoying at home. You can have the cooked noodles packed with the broth, pack the noodles and broth separately, or choose uncooked fresh noodles. You can also choose the kimchi flavor and indicate whether you need utensils—such thoughtful details that I’m already thinking of getting takeout next time. If you’re looking for a delicious lunch in Songdo, Incheon, I definitely recommend stopping by!
