Family lunch for three near Tongdosa, Yangsan: Eonyang Dak Kalguksu

Looking for somewhere hearty to eat near Tongdosa, I ended up at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu.

How far is Eonyang Dak Kalguksu from Tongdosa Temple?

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Tongdosa Branch is really close to Tongdosa, so it's great to stop by after visiting the temple — a 5-minute drive, tops!

My partner, our daughter and I visited together. We arrived right as break time ended, so we were the very first customers.

A little while later, customers started trickling in one by one and the place quickly livened up. The dining room is fairly spacious and clean, so it felt comfortable for a family visit. The staff were friendly too, so we started the meal in a good mood from the very beginning.

We ordered a large chicken kalguksu, a dak-gomtang, extra chicken, and one bowl of rice.

Our daughter loves chicken kalguksu, so this order was a no-brainer. But going large-size meant the portion was seriously massive, haha.

The big bowl was packed with noodles, topped with tender, well-cooked chicken.

The kalguksu noodles were chewy with great texture, and the broth was clean and warm — it felt soothing with every bite.

Best of all, the chicken was soft enough for our daughter to eat easily. As expected, she kept saying it was delicious and dug into the noodles with gusto, haha.

Tearing the chicken into small pieces to eat with the noodles was even better — you could enjoy the noodles and meat together in one bite.

The large size was seriously huge — filling enough for one adult on its own. Since the three of us shared it along with other dishes, we ended up with an even more generous spread.

Dak-gomtang and extra chicken: how much food is it?

My partner ordered the dak-gomtang (chicken rice soup). It already comes with rice in it, so there was no need to add rice separately. Warm broth with rice already inside made for a filling bowl just by looking at it.

The broth was light and not overwhelming, so the spoon kept going back for more, and the chicken was tender and paired well with the soup. But we got a little greedy and added extra chicken too, lol.

Adding the extra chicken bumped the portion up dramatically — we ended up eating until we were truly stuffed. We added one more bowl of rice too, and splitting it three ways made the table completely overflowing.

The chicken in particular was tender and clean without any gamey smell, so it was fine to eat with our daughter.

Why Eonyang Dak Kalguksu works for a meal near Tongdosa

If you're looking for a place to eat near Tongdosa, the short distance makes this an easy stop. The dishes suited us perfectly after touring the temple, when we wanted to fill up on something warm.

The kalguksu in particular has a generous amount of noodles plus chicken on top, so one bowl alone would be filling.

The dak-gomtang was also filling since it comes with rice included. The three of us split the dishes between us, and the portions were so generous we ended up completely full.

The dining room is spacious, so it's good for family visits, and there's a baby chair too! The owner looked after us kindly, so we could eat comfortably. Being close to Tongdosa is another plus — it seems like a good stop before or after a Tongdosa outing.

Was the family lunch in Yangsan worth it?

This time we ate really generously — the large chicken kalguksu, the dak-gomtang, and extra chicken on top. The chicken kalguksu our daughter loves was both tasty and generous in portion, so it gets a big thumbs up! The dak-gomtang, with warm broth and rice already in it, was also great for a hearty meal.

Adding the extra chicken on top of that left us feeling completely stuffed by the end, lol. If you're looking for a warm, filling meal to share with family near Tongdosa, this place is worth a visit.

Next time we visit, I think we'll order our daughter's favorite chicken kalguksu again. This time too, the three of us ate well and left completely full.
