Paju café with hut-roof outdoor tables for senior dogs: On the Rail

Hi, this is Ally Mom Jinny 😊 I love going out and about, but lately I've been staying home a lot. My 14-year-old poodle Haepi has been sick 😢 But last Friday, Haepi was finally feeling good, so we decided to visit a dog-friendly café in Munsan, Paju. It's also a café near Imjingak.

How to get to On the Rail: you cross a real railway track

On the Rail is a café on Imjingang-ro in Munsan-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, and true to its name, you actually cross a railway track to get there.

My husband had taken the day off too, so we had two days free and wanted to drive deep into Paju. Cruising along Jayu-ro always puts me in a good mood. Paju's stretch of Jayu-ro rarely gets congested, so sometimes we just drive out like this for a café-healing session.

I think this might be exactly why we keep living in Paju — there are so many quiet, healing restaurants and cafés here.

A gentle breeze was blowing that day, so we sat outside sipping coffee while my husband and I chatted about our only daughter Ally, who lives in Australia, and about our youngest, Haepi, who came along with us.

It's the season of clear autumn skies. Every year it passes by so quickly and leaves me wanting more, so I try to make each day count.

Parking and the dog policy at On the Rail in Paju

On the Rail, this dog-friendly café in Paju, has a huge parking lot, so don't worry about finding a spot. Almost all the spaces were full when we arrived, so I only managed to snap a photo on our way out.

To be clear, dogs aren't allowed inside this café near Imjingak. Order first, then head to an outdoor table to enjoy time with your dog. ^^

There were quite a few people inside, so I mostly filmed around the front of the store to avoid getting anyone in frame. It's spacious and pleasant — wide gaps between tables and a high ceiling give it a really open feel. Paju also has a Lotte Outlet and a Shinsegae Outlet nearby, so it might be worth stopping by after some shopping.

What bread On the Rail bakes: alligator bread, kkurungji, tarts

On the Rail carries several kinds of bread, so pick whatever suits your taste. ^^

Alligator bread — I was really into this one at one point, so it was nice to see it again after a while.

I also spotted kkurungji (crispy scorched-rice bread). Looks like it'd be nutty and crunchy.

Tarts and mini cakes were over here.

Inside On the Rail: window-lined room and a railway-themed yard

On the Rail, this dog-friendly café in Paju, has so many windows that it's perfect for relaxing. ^^ There are baby chairs too, so it'd be great for a weekend family outing.

On my way to wash my hands in the restroom, I noticed a giant teddy bear plush by the window. There was a full-length mirror too, so I snapped a quick photo. Step outside and a wide outdoor yard opens up, with a distinctive railway-themed interior.

Salt bread, financier and slice cake with hot and iced Americanos

At On the Rail, we picked salt bread, a financier, and a slice cake with such pretty colors. They gave us a spoon with the cake, so it was easy to enjoy.

The coffee arrived too. Hot Americano for me, iced Americano for my husband.

I don't usually go for sweet desserts, but that day I was really craving something sweet, haha.

For the financier, I picked the one piled high with sugar!

Still, the favorite bread for us as a couple was the salt bread.

Hut-roof tables: the best season to bring a dog to On the Rail

The autumn sky was so pretty that day. This dog-friendly café in Paju has tables scattered around with thatched roofs. Weather like this is perfect for visiting with your dog. If it's not the height of summer or dead of winter, come give it a try with your pup!

This is Haepi, the youngest member of our family. So cute, right? ^^
