First impressions: how big is the dining room?

Living up to its reputation as a pork belly, offal and hot pot spot in Gyeongsan's Oksan-dong, the moment I walked in, the sheer size of the place stood out.

With a spacious dining room and dedicated group seating, it looked perfect for group gatherings or work dinners. Parking space was generous too, so there was no need to stress about parking. But what impressed me most was the system where an expert grills the meat for you at the table.

Even people who aren't great at grilling meat can enjoy high-quality meat comfortably without feeling self-conscious, which made this stand out even among Gyeongsan's many pork restaurants.
Menu and what we ordered at Kkotdwaeji Sikdang Gyeongsan Branch

Looking at the menu, there was quite a variety — grilled cuts like pork belly, premium jowl, gabri and hobnail pork belly, set menus like the Gourmet Set, Kkotdwaeji Set, and Daechang (beef intestine) Set, and signature hot pots like the daechang bulgogi jeongol (beef intestine hot pot).

This time we ordered 3 servings of pork belly and 3 servings of pork jowl, along with doenjang jjigae, fried rice, and bibimbap. True to the promise of using only top 20%-grade domestic Korean pork, the meat quality already felt trustworthy.
How did the pork belly and pork jowl taste?

Staff grilled all the meat and brought it to us, so we could eat comfortably without worrying about smelling like smoke. The pork belly was crispy outside and juicy inside, full of flavorful juices, and the pork jowl was tender with a satisfying chew.

There were also plenty of sauces and pastes to dip the meat in, so it was fun to enjoy the meat's natural flavor and then switch things up with different sauces.
True to a colorful 9-side-dish spread, there were several kinds of kimchi, plus generous accompanying vegetables like bean sprouts, mushrooms, and tomatoes.

The doenjang jjigae had a savory, deep flavor, and the fried rice and bibimbap both paired really well with the meat.

True to a great Gyeongsan pork belly restaurant, the care put into everything — the meat, side dishes, sauces — was clear, and it was so good I think I'll become a regular.
