You can conveniently use the Yeungnam University Cheonma Art Center parking lot, so it is really easy and pleasant to visit by car. Parking is free for 4 hours.

Tonight's dinner spot was Cafe Dongi Yeungnam University Art Center Branch, just right for when I am craving a neat, filling meal near Yeungnam University in Gyeongsan.

Spacious group tables and kiosk ordering

Once you step inside, there is a much larger and more comfortable space than I expected from outside. The group tables are generously sized and laid out with plenty of room, so it felt hard to imagine a better place for Yeungnam University student club dinners, a meal after a workplace workshop, or a cozy outing with a big family.

We ordered the individual-brazier spicy pork, Dongi grilled pork bulgogi, and nuruk-aged tangsuyuk (sweet and sour fried pork). You order and pay through the table kiosk!

Individual-brazier spicy pork that stays warm to the last bite

The grilled spicy pork arrives neatly arranged over a mini brazier, so the meat stays warm until you finish every bite of rice! The brazier set comes with doenjang jjigae (soybean-paste stew), while regular menu items come with miyeokguk (seaweed soup). The brazier option costs a little more, but the doenjang jjigae was delicious too, so I loved it!

A gentle smoky aroma wakes up the appetite, and the seasoning has soaked perfectly into every slice of thin meat. The moment I piled it onto rice and took a big bite, my brow naturally furrowed in that truthful-food-face way. Cafe Dongi's spicy pork has a wonderful balance of pleasant sweet heat lingering on the tip of the tongue and deep fire-grilled flavor. The tender, soft meat is thoroughly infused with seasoning, and rich savory flavor bursts out with every bite. It is not overly spicy or harsh, and the finish is clean rather than greasy, making it a fantastic match for freshly cooked rice. It is a neat yet hearty, perfect rice-thief dish that anyone can enjoy without hesitation. 👍👍

Dongi grilled pork bulgogi has a sweet soy-sauce-based seasoning that is the kind of universally loved flavor for all ages.

Nuruk-aged tangsuyuk you have to order

Cafe Dongi's signature nuruk-aged tangsuyuk. If you visit Cafe Dongi, this is not a choice—it is an essential menu item that absolutely needs to be on the table.

Its batter is wonderfully both crisp and chewy, good enough to rival the famous guobaorou-style fried pork. Perhaps because the pork inside is carefully aged with nuruk (Korean fermentation starter) for a long time, it melts softly in the mouth with no toughness and none of that unwanted meat smell. 👍

A self bar with unlimited rice and fried eggs

And right in front of the self bar at Cafe Dongi, there is unlimited rice, freshly fried eggs, gim (roasted seaweed), and barley snacks ready for you. It is a Gyeongsan restaurant sure to satisfy hungry students!

Overall, I could feel the care put into every dish. This is a neat Yeungnam University restaurant without overly intense flavors. I sincerely hope you will visit at least once on a day when you want to fill up comfortably with a satisfying meal.
