Child-friendly Gyeongsan hanjeongsik with baby meal tray: Bapeul Jitda

In short

Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal course) restaurant on Samseonghyeon-ro in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, officially designated a child-friendly restaurant with baby chairs and a baby meal tray on the menu. The winter set 2 plus a baby meal brought boiled pork, steamed abalone, a seaweed dish, eggplant, hot pot and hijiki rice in order, and the toddler cleaned up the sukiyaki-style hot pot and the review-event potato cheese balls. With mild seasoning throughout and a proper kids' tray, Bapeul Jitda is an easy pick for a family meal out with young children.

When eating out with a kid, it's not just about whether the food is good for adults — it really matters whether there's something the child can actually eat.

A full spread of hanjeongsik course dishes at Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch

This time I visited Jipbap Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch. Cutting to the conclusion first: I really want to recommend this place for family dining with kids. The food overall is mild and clean-tasting without being bland, and it comes out course by course, which makes for a fun, drawn-out meal.

Most of all, my child ate so well that as a mom, that alone already earned this place major points haha 😂

Clean exterior of Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch

The exterior was clean from the outside, and at the entrance were signs for Gyeongsan model restaurant, child-friendly restaurant, and very high hygiene rating.

As someone visiting with a kid, these little details were quietly reassuring.

The inside was much bigger than I expected. The tables had decent spacing, and the whole place had a tidy wood-and-white tone, which also seemed fine for a meal with grandparents.

There were several baby chairs ready to go, which made it easy to visit with a child.

What we ordered: winter set 2 plus a baby meal

That day at Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch, we ordered the winter set 2 and a kids' meal.

Appetizer course starting to arrive

Rather than everything landing on the table at once, the appetizers led into several dishes served one after another, so it felt like slowly working through a whole meal. From the moment the first dishes started arriving, I already had a sense of 'this place knows what it's doing.'

Appetizer plate with boiled pork and steamed abalone

Tasting my way through the salad, boiled pork, seaweed dish, and steamed abalone, nothing felt thrown together. The seasoning overall wasn't strong, so even after eating a bunch of different things, my stomach didn't feel weighed down.

Usually after eating out, even a meal that tasted great can leave your mouth feeling salty or your stomach bloated. Here, it was the opposite — after finishing everything, I felt like I'd had a genuinely comfortable meal.

Boiled pork, steamed abalone, salad and seaweed: the opening dishes

The appetizer course for the winter set 2 moved through boiled pork, steamed abalone, salad, and a seaweed dish. First the boiled pork — the thick-cut meat was tender, and eating it with the side vegetables felt clean and light.

The steamed abalone stood out too — it had that signature chewy abalone texture without being tough, so it was pleasantly soft to bite into. A little lemon and wasabi on the side made the flavor even cleaner.

The salad wasn't just plain vegetables either — it had egg and several other ingredients mixed in, which made it nice to eat between courses.

And that seaweed dish in the photo! I'm not sure if it was hijiki or some other kind of seaweed, but it had a nice chewy, crunchy texture, and once I wrapped it in gim (dried seaweed), I couldn't stop reaching for it.

The eggplant dish is a quiet standout

The eggplant was crispy outside and moist inside, topped with a generous, slightly spicy-sweet sauce.

I really liked this one too. Even though it was fried, the eggplant didn't taste oily at all — it kept that crispy-outside, tender-inside quality. The sauce practically called for rice, so I kept going back for more bites haha.

The hot pot our toddler ate the most of

Sukiyaki-style hot pot loaded with meat and vegetables

The dish I'd most recommend to families with kids at Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch is the hot pot. At first glance it had a sukiyaki-like feel, packed with meat, napa cabbage, bok choy, mushrooms and more vegetables. I started with 'maybe I'll give the kid a little' — but she ate so much of it.

I gave her meat, rice soaked in the broth, and small bits of vegetables, and she kept taking more.

What comes on the baby meal tray at Bapeul Jitda?

The kids' meal came out on a proper kids' tray with white rice, a fried egg, gim (dried seaweed), and a drink.

It let me focus on foods my child already knows and likes.

Adding some meat and broth from the hot pot meant she got a proper full meal. A restaurant that has an actual kids' menu is, honestly, a small blessing for parents...😂

Review-event potato cheese balls, another kid favorite

We also got potato cheese balls as part of a review event, and my kid loved these too. They were round, crispy outside, with soft potato and cheese inside — texture-wise, a bit like a croquette.

Potato cheese balls from the review event

The outer shell was crispy and the inside was fluffy — good enough that even an adult would enjoy it, though it seemed to suit a kid's taste even more. Watching her polish off the hot pot, the kids' meal, and then the potato cheese balls, I thought, 'today's restaurant pick was a win'😂

Don't skip the hijiki rice with doenjang jjigae

The hidden highlight of the winter set 2 was the hijiki rice and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). I expected rice with hijiki mixed in to have a somewhat distinct smell, but it turned out surprisingly mild and clean.

It's tasty and nutty on its own, but I'd recommend pairing it with the doenjang jjigae. Mixing a little of the stew into the hijiki rice and stirring it together... this was genuinely delicious.

Doenjang jjigae served alongside the hijiki rice

The rice itself is clean-tasting and the doenjang jjigae has that savory depth, so together they taste exactly like home cooking. After all the fancier dishes, finishing with this combo made my stomach feel settled. Personally, the hijiki rice + doenjang jjigae combo was the hidden highlight of the winter set 2.

Is Bapeul Jitda worth it for a family meal with kids and grandparents?

A hanjeongsik spread suited to family dining

Jipbap Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch isn't a place where one single dish blows you away — instead, the boiled pork, steamed abalone, salad, seaweed dish, eggplant, hot pot, hijiki rice, and doenjang jjigae all added up to a genuinely well-rounded meal.

The final spread of the meal at Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch

That's probably exactly why it works so well for family dining. Grandparents can enjoy clean, mild Korean food, and kids have easy options like the kids' meal and the hot pot.

  • ✔️ Plenty of parking
  • ✔️ Baby chairs available
  • ✔️ Kids' meal available to order
  • ✔️ A hot pot that's easy for kids to eat
  • ✔️ A good atmosphere to bring grandparents
  • ✔️ Overall mild, non-spicy food
  • ✔️ Coffee available after the meal

If you're looking for a Korean restaurant in Gyeongsan to bring kids to, or just a solid family dining spot, I can recommend this one pretty confidently. My kid especially loved the hot pot and the potato cheese balls, so I'd want to come back next time we have a family meal planned.

And next time, I'm definitely mixing doenjang jjigae into the hijiki rice again. I can't give up that combo 😎
