I visited Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café (챗 베이커 브런치 & 베이커리 카페) while looking for somewhere around Gongdo in Anseong where I could have a meal, drink coffee, and take my time.

I thought it was simply a bakery café selling bread and coffee, but it also has brunch and dinner menus, so it looked better than expected for coming in for a proper meal too. Above all, the café is large and the parking is generous, which made it feel less daunting to visit with kids.
Parking and a spacious interior

The parking lot was the first thing I loved when I arrived. It is quite spacious for the size of the café, and there was even a parking attendant on weekends. Parking can quietly become a source of stress when going to a café on the weekend, but I think there would be a little less to worry about here.

Once inside, the first floor alone was quite spacious, and the high ceiling made it feel even roomier and more open than its actual footprint.

After looking around the first-floor seating, I went upstairs. Each area had a slightly different mood, so it was nice to be able to choose the spot you wanted. We headed up to the second floor and settled in.
A place for everything from brunch to dinner
Chat Baker is a bakery café, but it also serves brunch and dinner. From pasta, risotto, and gnocchi to appetizers, there is plenty on the menu, so it seemed like a great place to take care of a meal as well as bread or coffee in one go. Brunch orders are available daily from 11 AM to 8 PM.

And one thing I personally thought was nice! If you order one brunch menu item, you can get 30% off one drink. If you are planning to order coffee or another drink along with brunch, this is a discount worth remembering.
Chat Baker coffee menu

You can just have some bread at the café, or order a meal if you are hungry, so it struck me as an easy place to use depending on why you are visiting.
Bingsu is also available in summer

Since I visited in summer, there was also a wide range of bingsu (shaved ice dessert) on offer. Chat Baker has six kinds of bingsu in total.
- Coconut fresh mango bingsu
- Melon snowflake bingsu
- Watermelon snowflake bingsu
- Snowflake red bean bingsu
- Fresh mango and watermelon snowflake bingsu
- Matcha chocolate bingsu
If you like fruit, the fresh mango or watermelon bingsu looked like good choices, and there was everything from classic red bean bingsu to matcha chocolate, making it easy to choose according to your taste. Especially if you are visiting a café with kids in summer, ordering one bingsu to share would be lovely.
Showcase breads and warmed salt bread
There is a good variety of bakery items too

As you would expect from a bakery café, there was quite a variety of breads.

The breads were displayed inside a showcase, which gave me the impression that they were being kept hygienically, and it was fun looking through them one by one as I chose.

We chose salt bread and a chocolate baguette. I went with the salt bread because its simple, lightly salty flavor goes well with coffee, and added the chocolate baguette because I was craving something sweet.

I also liked that there is an oven in the café where you can warm up your bread. The texture and aroma really change when bread is heated, you know. With salt bread in particular, warming it slightly brings out more of the butter aroma, making it great with coffee.
Chat Baker also sells drip coffee.

While we waited for our coffee and bread, I watched drip coffee being made, and it seemed to be automatic..?! So fascinating!! Coffee lovers might enjoy watching this too. Seeing the coffee slowly drip right in front of me gave the place a different atmosphere from an ordinary café.
Second-floor floor seating when you are with kids

One of my favorite things about this visit was the second-floor floor seating. It is a raised, wooden-floored area where you take off your shoes, and since you can sit on the floor, it seemed more comfortable when visiting with kids. When I visited, many families with children were actually seated in the inner second-floor area.

When you take kids to a café, a floor-seating area like this is naturally a little more comfortable than having them sit in chairs. So if you are looking for a café in Gongdo, Anseong to visit with children, this seating is worth trying. The café itself is spacious, so it felt less cramped for family visits, and it was nice that adults could have coffee and bread while kids sat more comfortably.

The Americano and café latte
We ordered one Americano and one café latte. I personally liked the café latte; it had a slightly more nutty flavor than lattes I have had at other cafés.

The milk and coffee came together smoothly, so it paired well with the bread. The Americano seemed to use beans with a slight acidity. It was not the kind of acidity that jumps out strongly, though—it felt nicely balanced and easy to drink.

Chat Baker has a large parking lot, a big café with high ceilings, and an open feel. There is a range of seating on both the first and second floors, so you can choose according to the size of your group or the occasion. The second-floor floor-seating area in particular would likely feel like a real plus for families visiting with children.

Like us, you could stop by for coffee and bread, or order from the brunch menu and make a meal of it.

If you are looking for a spacious bakery café in Gongdo, Anseong, or somewhere to sit comfortably and spend time with kids, Chat Baker is worth stopping by. It also serves bingsu in summer, so choosing dishes according to the season sounds fun too.
