Namyangju café for sunset river views and desserts: Waltz and Dr. Mahn
In short
Waltz and Dr. Mahn is a dessert café in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, overlooking the Bukhangang River. After a 20-minute weekend wait, we had Mango Yogurt Delight and Honneur et Chevalier for 16,000 and 18,000 won. Verdict: a lovely Swiss-chalet-style stop, especially near sunset.

I was on a weekend date in Namyangju with my boyfriend and found this place while looking for a café! It had kept popping up on my Instagram algorithm, so I’d wanted to go forever—and since we were nearby, we went straight there! Haha.

Weekend waiting and Swiss-like scenery
We arrived a little after 5 p.m. on the weekend, and there were seriously more people than I expected! We parked and joined the waitlist right away; there were around 11 parties ahead of us, haha. It has been all over Instagram lately, and it definitely felt even more popular now... haha. When joining the waitlist, you could choose indoor seating or no preference between indoors and outdoors. We just picked “no preference”! While waiting, we sat near the outdoor seats and took a little walk too.

Isn’t this scenery just so, so pretty? 🤍 Instagram called it a Swiss-vibes café, and it really did look like Switzerland!!! I told my boyfriend I absolutely wanted to go back to Switzerland someday, and he kept going, “Ahhh, Gapyeong?” It was exactly like my parents’ reaction when I sent them photos from my Switzerland trip before, haha.

After waiting about 20 minutes, we were assigned an indoor table!

Honestly, I wanted to sit at these outdoor seats the most, but the timing was such a shame haha ㅠ

Still, the indoor space had a great atmosphere too! The interior felt antique and classic—such a Swiss chalet vibe!

Best of all, the Bukhangang River view was so clear even from inside!

Sitting there looking at the view outside the window, I was only at a café but somehow felt like I was traveling... Someone send me to Switzerland, please~~
A wide menu, from coffee to set courses

This place is said to be Korea’s first coffee museum, so maybe that’s why it had such a huge selection of hand-drip and specialty coffees! Coffee lovers would probably have fun just looking through the menu, haha.

Besides coffee, they also sold lots of drinks and desserts, including fresh fruit juice, beer, and cakes.

They also offered set courses, and since the atmosphere is so classic, I think it would be nice to come for a course meal on an anniversary!
Mango Yogurt Delight and Honneur et Chevalier

We ordered Yogurt Delight for ₩16,000 and Honneur et Chevalier for ₩18,000. It’s a coffee museum, but I can’t drink coffee, so I ordered the Yogurt Delight! My boyfriend had originally wanted the Coffee Plot Volcano, with chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, and nuts, but it contains Kahlúa coffee liqueur. Since he had to drive, sadly... he passed and ordered the Honneur et Chevalier instead!
Yogurt Delight with mango sorbet
Yogurt Delight ₩16,000 A menu item with refreshing fruit sorbet and house-made yogurt ice cream!

You can choose blueberry, raspberry, or mango sorbet, and since I’m obviously a mango lover, I chose mango. It came piled with mango, and the sweet yogurt ice cream with tangy mango sorbet was an even better pairing than I expected! A combination that can’t possibly taste bad! There were quite a lot of nuts too, so the texture made it even more delicious!

Anyone who loves Yoajung-style frozen yogurt would definitely love this... You have to order it, seriously, haha. And the coffee-loving boyfriend’s order was...

Honneur et Chevalier, changed because he was driving
Honneur et Chevalier (₩18,000) Maybe you could call it a coffee parfait? It has Dutch coffee, a milk base, ice cream, a macaron, and seasonal fruit on top! Hahaha, sweet Hyunsang, handing me each piece of fruit. Even I, someone who can’t drink coffee, tried a bite, and I liked that the coffee flavor was lighter than expected! I don’t know about everything else, but the atmosphere alone was so good! As a Switzerland lover, I was so satisfied... 🤍 I think the Bukhangang River view would be even prettier if you came around sunset, so next time I want to come back at the right time! The scenery was so beautiful it made me wonder if Namyangju had always been this pretty—would be great for an anniversary too!
