Jeju café for beer-paired oranda travel snacks: Cheongchuni Oranda

While looking for a slightly different gift—not tangerine chocolate or cookies—at Jeju Dongmun Market, which is packed with things to see and do, I found “Cheongchuni Oranda” :)

Where is Cheongchuni Oranda in Dongmun Market?

You can easily find “Cheongchuni Oranda” when you enter through Gates 2 or 9 of Dongmun Market. As you walk around the market, you’ll spot a shop with an orange sign and people lining up to pay, haha. That’s the one!

Oranda and yuzu gwajul menu

There are three menu items: oranda, donut oranda, and yuzu gwajul. But... when I visited, there was an issue with the chocolate supply, so I couldn’t try the donut oranda ㅠㅠ You can buy oranda in a gift box or in bulk, so just choose what you need!

A soft texture chosen after tasting

There was a tasting station in front of the shop, where you could try one of each flavor before buying. I’d always thought of oranda as hard and sticky, but Cheongchuni Oranda’s oranda and gwajul (traditional Korean puffed-rice confection) had every texture: really soft, tender, chewy, and crisp?!! They seemed perfect as an easy snack! They weren’t overly sweet either, so I think they’d be great for kids too.

Gift sets and mixing several flavors

The oranda set, with four flavors, is ₩23,000. It comes in a neat box with every flavor, individually wrapped, so I highly recommend it as a gift for friends or coworkers!

Yuzu, Udo peanut, gamtae (seaweed), nut, and garlic oranda are ₩10,000 for three. Depending on the flavor, they cost ₩3,500–₩4,000 each, but three cost ₩10,000, so it’s a better deal to mix different kinds :) I was going to eat them with my family at home, so instead of buying in bulk, I mixed them up so we could try a little of every flavor.

Gwajul is ₩5,000 for five and ₩10,000 for 12. After trying it at the tasting station, we said we absolutely had to take some gwajul too, haha. It’s so good you wouldn’t regret buying 10!!

We ate so much throughout the Jeju trip, so we wrapped it up simply with oranda and gwajul~ The sweet oranda was perfect with a cold beer too, haha. I bet it would be a perfect match with coffee at home too!!

Can you see how chewy the gwajul is?! I thought it would stick to my teeth, but not at all—it was actually crisp and soft~ Oranda and gwajul feel like the kind of snacks I’d reach for often, so they’d be great to eat at home and such, such nice gifts for family or people around you!

Oh, and the owner told me how to store them: at room temperature!! Not in the refrigerator XX And you should eat the oranda within 1 month and the gwajul within 2 weeks ^^
