Family-friendly Paju café after Imjingak Peace Nuri Park: Barirus

After a day out at Imjingak Peace Nuri Park with my baby, I stopped by Barirus, a large café well known in Paju, for a little break.

Barirus hours and location

It is on the second floor at 245 Bongseosan-ro, Paju-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do. It is open 10:00–21:00 from Monday through Thursday and 10:00–02:00 from Friday through Sunday, with restaurant last orders at 20:00. High chairs are available, too.

Since it stays open until 2 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, I think it would also be lovely for a date after a late-night drive!

The café says it is 10 minutes from Wolneung IC and Sandan IC on the Paju–Munsan Expressway, and 20 minutes from Paju Lotte Outlet.

Spacious parking and stroller access

The parking is divided into Lots 1, 2, and 3, and it is spacious enough for more than 300 cars.

There were EV charging facilities as well.

A spacious, gallery-like interior

The café is on the second floor.

There is a wheelchair access path on the way up to the building, so it was easy to push the stroller to the entrance.

There was no elevator to the second floor, so I did have to lift the stroller briefly. Still, once inside, the space was so large that moving around with it was easy.

A media photo zone appears as soon as you enter. The gallery-like atmosphere starts right at the entrance, and the photos came out beautifully, so it made a great photo spot.

The café is truly huge, with a variety of seating including sofas, chairs, and tables.

You can settle into whichever seat you like, and going up about half a level reveals another seating area.

There is plenty of room, so even on a busy day like a weekend, I think there would be less worry about finding a seat. In particular, the floor-to-ceiling windows gave a full view of the trees outside; the greenery looked like a painting in a frame and was so pretty.

A glamping-style terrace

Outside, there is a terrace laid with artificial grass, plus tent seating with a glamping feel.

On a nice day, I think enjoying brunch here would have such a lovely atmosphere.

There is also play equipment for a little light activity, so it looked like a decent place to visit with children.

What made it good for visiting with a baby

Every area in the café is marked as a kids-care zone, and high chairs are available.

The thing I was happiest to find while visiting with my baby was the nursing room! It is along the way to the women’s restroom and separated by curtains, so I could use it comfortably. Inside, there is a nursing chair and a changing table.

Things to browse inside the café

One side of the café has a shop-in-shop area selling clothes and small accessories, as well as a gallery-like space displaying artwork, so it was fun to browse while having a drink. I liked that it was more than just a place to drink coffee—you could look around the space, too.

A wide menu, from brunch to bakery treats

The menu was varied, from brunch to bakery items. There were coffee, non-coffee drinks, smoothies, ades, tea, and gelato, as well as pizza, pasta, and brunch dishes. It looked like a good choice for families or groups, since everyone could pick what they wanted.

Next time, I would like to come back for a proper brunch rather than just coffee and bread.

The coffee and bakery items I ordered

I kept it simple and ordered an iced Americano, an iced vanilla latte, black olive ciabatta, green onion cream cheese salt bread, and pizza bread.

Americano

I could choose the beans, either with acidity or without, and I chose the less acidic beans. They had a nutty flavor with a gently sweet aroma and a clean finish, making it easy to drink.

Vanilla latte

The nutty milk and sweet vanilla aroma made it smooth and sweet. It was not overwhelmingly sweet; the nuttiness of the coffee and vanilla scent came together nicely, making it good with bread.

Green onion cream cheese salt bread

This was my favorite thing I ate! The fresh aroma of green onion paired with rich, smooth cream cheese, and the salty bacon flavor inside the bread made for such a great combination.

It was salty and nutty with a subtle green onion aroma—personally, this is the bread I would highly recommend.

Pizza bread

It had that familiar pizza-bread flavor. You could bite into corn and carrot,

plus the salty taste of ham, making it something anyone could enjoy comfortably!

Black olive ciabatta

The black olive aroma came through strongly, and the inside was fluffy with a pleasantly chewy texture.

It was mild overall, so it went nicely with coffee.

Barirus, a nice stop after an Imjingak outing

I visited while looking for somewhere to rest after an outing at Imjingak Peace Nuri Park, and it was better than I expected for visiting with a baby. There was a large parking lot, high chairs, and a nursing room, and the indoor space was wide enough to move around easily with a stroller.

Above all, the varied seating, terrace, photo zone, and exhibition space mean a family visit would not feel boring. Planning a Paju outing around Imjingak Peace Nuri Park → Barirus sounds like a good idea. Next time, I want to return for the brunch menu! If you are looking for a large café in Paju or a stop after an Imjingak outing, it is worth visiting at least once.
