Hapjeong brunch café beef tteokbokki and shrimp sandwich: Seowon Angil
In short
Seowon Angil Hapjeong is a large two-floor brunch café on Jandari-ro 3-gil in Mapo, Seoul. Two friends shared the beef tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) & fried snack set at 25,000 won and the herb shrimp & arugula sandwich at 13,000 won, and used the first-come free parking plus the 2,000 won public parking lot support. I went to Seowon Angil Hapjeong, a massive café in Hapjeong, for brunch 💖
Parking in Hapjeong: first-come free spots and 2,000 won support
Seowon Angil Hapjeong offers first-come free parking or parking fee support (₩2,000). Free parking in Hapjeong — who knew! They can fit 3-4 cars on a first-come basis, and my friend and I got super lucky and grabbed the last spot >.< (Call ahead to ask if there's still parking left.)
But don't worry even if there's no parking space. Park at a nearby public lot, show your parking ticket, and they'll cover part of it (₩2,000) — such a thoughtful café haha.
Inside the two floors of this large Hapjeong café
Walking in — I gasped the moment I stepped inside. Even the entrance is super hip and has such good energy.
The interior is so stylish that my friend and I took a million photos. The atmosphere of the space was really everything here ✨

Menu prices and drink discounts
You can smell the coffee beans before ordering. Seowon Angil Hapjeong is a brunch café you can visit just for coffee too. Takeout coffee gets -₩1,500 off, and bringing your own tumbler gets -₩500 off.
Coffee, cold brew, tea, non-coffee drinks, ade, juice, beer, soup, salad, sandwiches, rice dishes, pasta — they have everything.

They have bread and cake too!! Somehow I feel like the bread would be really good — next time I want to try it.

I'm craving craft beer haha. But it's daytime so I should hold back ㅜㅜ I really want a Blue Moon.

Since the store is so spacious, pets are allowed inside too. If you like the coffee, you can buy the beans right there.

The scale and sense of space here are amazing. Who knew a Hapjeong backstreet had such a spacious, comfortable, large-scale brunch café. The tables are spaced out well too, perfect for chatting.
With exposed concrete, vintage wood tones, and plants throughout, you get a great photo no matter where you stand.
The 2nd floor is open 11:00 to 18:00
Go up the sleek metal staircase and you reach the 2nd floor, open from 11am to 6pm.
Wow, the 2nd floor is also incredibly spacious and relaxed. I lost track of time admiring the stylish lighting, décor pieces, and the different tables and chairs everywhere ㅜㅜ
Eek, such an elegant, classic photo spot.
Every table, chair, and corner has its own personality — you can really feel how much thought and care went into the interior.
Such a beautiful chair.

There's a staff-only baking space on the 2nd floor.

There are big, lush plants everywhere, so the air feels really fresh and clean.
The water bottle is a Stanley ❤️ I want one haha. Various sauces are also stocked here.
Hotel-grade bathrooms at Seowon Angil Hapjeong
There are bathrooms on both floors, and wow... they're 5-star hotel-bathroom level.
The bathroom is nicer than my house. Is this a bathroom or a gallery? Sitting here I feel like a queen lol. This place is insane.
Beef tteokbokki & fried snack set, 25,000 won
Our first order at Seowon Angil Hapjeong was the beef tteokbokki & fried snack set, ₩25,000. Tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) is such an unusual thing to see on a brunch café menu that I was drawn in like a magnet lol.

Genuinely delicious. This is tteokbokki-specialist-restaurant level.

The fried snacks are super clean-tasting — like they were fried in completely fresh oil. Freshly fried and crispy, plus a really generous mix of items.
Slurp up a bite of the spicy-sweet, richly seasoned tteokbokki. The savory beef topping makes every bite fun to chew.
Dipping the dumpling deep into the tteokbokki sauce haha.

Mashing the egg yolk and soaking it all in the sauce. The seasoning isn't too strong or overwhelming, and it has great depth of flavor.

Wait, when did we finish all of this? I can see the bottom of the bowl.

Herb shrimp & arugula sandwich, 13,000 won
The second dish was the herb shrimp & arugula sandwich, ₩13,000. Flawless from the visuals to the plating.

On top of crispy rye bread, fragrant arugula and plump herb shrimp are piled on generously.
The arugula and sliced red onion in the middle were the real kick — I finished it all without a hint of greasiness.
The carrot rapée and salad served alongside were also really, really good.
The two of us just polished off this huge portion. It was there... and then it wasn't. It was so delicious.
Even the wet wipes and napkins looked pretty, so I couldn't help but take a photo haha.
Is Seowon Angil Hapjeong worth a visit?
A refreshingly spacious large-scale café that's rare to find in Hapjeong. Insane scale, hip interior. The brunch menu was better than expected — genuinely delicious, and the ingredients were super fresh.
If you want to eat something delicious in a comfortable, hip mood without feeling rushed, I really recommend Seowon Angil Hapjeong 💖
