Today I'm bringing you an honest review of Buggies Tangbang, a Daejeon handmade burger spot I genuinely love!
I had such a great meal at Buggies' Eoeun branch before, so I went into this Tangbang visit with high expectations. As Daejeon's number-one-ranked handmade burger place, it lived up to the hype — here's my very satisfied review! Hehe
Buggies Tangbang's exterior, parking and neon-lit entrance
The exterior alone is pure hip vibes...
I visited around 7pm on a Tuesday, and from far away the vivid pink, green, and sky-blue neon signs caught my eye. It felt like stepping into a burger joint on an American street. Perfect for photos with the girls...
There are chairs set up outside for eating too, so on a nice day it would probably be great to eat outdoors. There's also a dedicated parking lot for the restaurant that fits about 3 cars comfortably. Parking is often a headache around Dunsan-dong or Tanbang-dong, so this was really convenient!
Inside Buggies Tangbang and how to order
Walking inside, the interior was much more spacious than I expected, with plenty of tables — enough for groups or larger gatherings.
Steel fixtures, plastic crates, stylish vintage posters, and bold English fonts (totally my style)... it all gave off a strong 80s and mid-century vibe! The interior was very Instagram-worthy, so I had fun taking photos while waiting for the burgers.
You can order by looking at the paper menu at the counter, or easily order using the tablet at each table.
What two people ordered, the total and the custom requests
Since handmade burgers here are pretty huge, it seems like two people usually order 2 single burgers + 1 fries + 2 drinks. So that's exactly what we did.

What I loved about Buggies is how freely you can customize your order. We asked for one burger without grilled onion, and asked that the garlic butter fries have the sauce on just half so it wouldn't be overwhelming.
There's a separate sink on one side of the restaurant where you can wash your hands properly, which was really convenient before eating — since burgers are, after all, eaten with your hands. Such a nice touch!

When we asked for the garlic butter fries sauce on just half, they drizzled garlic sauce on one side and served regular ketchup with the other. Such a thoughtful place... love it 💕
The combination of crispy-yet-moist fries with the garlic sauce was amazing — the garlic sauce wasn't as garlicky as I expected, just the right amount of sweet. If you love sauce, you might not even need the half-and-half split (I'm more of a plain fries person...). The fries themselves were fried perfectly — no comparison to McDonald's... (which honestly seems to be going downhill lately, sigh)
What's in the Hangover burger and how it tastes
And finally, the main event — the Hangover burger! Fresh lettuce, tomato, a soft-boiled egg, crispy hash brown, juicy meat patty, and savory cheese, all packed generously inside. The visual alone was overwhelming.
The portion was so big that I was completely full after finishing just one! With every bite, a burst of savory flavor hits you (watch out, the yolk might run!)
The crispy hash brown on top perfectly rounds out the texture — the combination is insane. Easily top-tier among Daejeon's best burger spots! 100% would come back.
Is there a wait at 7pm on a Tuesday? Final verdict
When we visited around 7pm on a Tuesday, there were about 2-3 tables of customers dining in, and delivery riders kept coming in nonstop — clearly a lot of delivery orders too. Definitely lived up to its reputation as a local favorite in Daejeon, haha.
Taste, atmosphere, and friendliness — Buggies really has it all as a handmade burger spot in Tanbang-dong, Daejeon. If you love handmade burgers, you have to visit at least once. (I'd confidently recommend it to visitors from out of town too...)
I'm planning to come back again soon — a legendary spot, confirmed! Hehe
