Solo lunch burger set near Tanbang Station, Daejeon: Buggies Tangbang

Today I'm writing up my visit to Buggies Tangbang, a burger restaurant in Tanbang-dong, Daejeon.

I eat burgers pretty often, and I'd heard there was a well-rated, well-reviewed burger spot around Tanbang-dong, so I went to check it out. What I ordered this time was the Hangover set.

The restaurant is at 61 Gyeryong-ro 553beon-angil 1F, Seo-gu, Daejeon. If you're taking public transit, come out of Exit 4 of Tanbang Station and walk about 330m to find it right away. Being so close to the subway station makes it pretty accessible.

Looking at portal site info, the review count was over 9,480 with a rating of 4.69, which is pretty high, so I had high expectations before even walking in. It opens at 11:10 AM, a good time to swing by for lunch.

What comes in the Hangover set at Buggies Tangbang?

Just from the name, the Hangover burger sounds like it'll hit the spot after a rough night, so I ordered it as a set with fries and a soda.

The Hangover burger is a hearty style built on a basic beef patty with hash brown, bacon, and a fried egg. One bite in and you immediately get the rich juiciness of the thick beef patty along with the savory, crispy texture of the hash brown.

The fried egg wraps around the other ingredients and softens things, keeping the overall balance in check. The salty bacon seasons it just right, and the bun itself wasn't dry — it was soft, so it went down smoothly with the fillings instead of feeling separate.

If you prefer a light burger loaded with fresh veggies, this isn't that — but if you like a heavy burger packed with meat and fried stuff that fills your mouth with rich flavor, this style will suit you well.

The fries that came with the set were freshly fried and crispy, no sogginess at all. The burger's size and the amount of fillings were substantial, so finishing the whole set left me very full.

Is Buggies Tangbang comfortable for eating alone?

The exterior and interior are decked out with that casual, hip vibe typical of American-style burger joints. The tables were spaced comfortably, and it felt like a fine place to eat solo without any pressure.

This is a good place to go when you need a solid energy refuel after working out, or when you're craving a proper, fully-loaded burger. If you're around Tanbang-dong or Dunsan-dong looking for a decent burger spot, I'd recommend the Hangover set at Buggies Tangbang.

Buggies is the kind of place where you understand why it has so many reviews. A burger plus set comes to under ₩15,000, it fills you up solidly with patty and hash brown, and the space is set up comfortably enough to hang around in.

How did the Hangover burger taste?

True to its name, Hangover is a burger hearty enough to make you think of curing a hangover. With a thick meat patty and hash brown packed in together, one bite brings up the patty's juiciness and the hash brown's crispy texture at the same time. The burger itself is pretty tall, so it was easier to eat while holding it wrapped in the paper.

The patty has a strong meaty aroma, so you taste the meat before the sauce. Since the hash brown is tucked between the buns, the carbs do overlap a bit, but that's exactly why one burger alone fills you up completely. If you're not into overly bold flavors, this is a solid, safe choice.

The wrapping paper is the brand's signature green with a smiley face on it, so it looks nice sitting on the table. I set it down for a bit to take photos before eating, and the hash brown's crispiness dropped off slightly. I'd recommend eating it right when it comes out.

This is a good spot to keep in mind when you're near Tanbang Station or Dunsan and need somewhere for a solo lunch with a proper burger. Next time I want to go back and try a different burger.
