Daegu bar for yuk sashimi and mungtigi: Yukyeonjeong Gyodong
In short
Yukyeonjeong Gyodong Branch is a bar in Gyodong, Jung-gu, Daegu, serving yuk sashimi and mungtigi together. I ordered the half-and-half platter with my younger sibling and enjoyed the tender yuk sashimi and chewy mungtigi with drinks in its calm wood-toned setting. Verdict: the half-and-half platter is a satisfying pick if you like both.

The atmosphere and seating at Yukyeonjeong Gyodong Branch
Yukyeonjeong Gyodong Branch is at Unit 101, 1F, 36 Gyodong 3-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, South Korea. It is open daily from 17:00 to 02:00, and Naver reservations are available too.

There were bar seats and outdoor tables that were comfortable even in the cool weather as autumn approaches. I went inside that day to catch up with my younger sibling after a long time!

The place was more compact than I expected, but the wood-toned interior and soft lighting created a really nice mood. It did not feel like an overly dark or noisy drinking spot—more like somewhere to sit, talk, and slowly enjoy drinks!
So it is nice to visit with a friend like I did, but I actually thought it would suit a date in Gyodong even better 😊 If you are looking for a place in Daegu's Gyodong to have dinner, a drink, and a good chat, I totally recommend it!!

The yuk sashimi and mungtigi half-and-half platter
I like both yuk sashimi (Korean-style raw beef slices) and mungtigi (chewy raw beef), so I immediately chose the half-and-half option that lets you have both! We ordered the yuk sashimi and mungtigi half-and-half platter.

I loved that I did not have to give up one when I wanted both yuk sashimi and mungtigi, haha. I tried the yuk sashimi first, and it was tender and clean-tasting. Its mild raw-beef flavor came through nicely, while the mungtigi had a chewier texture than the yuk sashimi, so it definitely had a different appeal.

Personally, I think texture is so important with raw beef, and the yuk sashimi and mungtigi I had that day were perfect with drinks. A piece here, a sip there, and it disappeared faster than I expected, haha.

They say it is Korean beef slaughtered the same day
Yukyeonjeong Gyodong Branch says it brings in Korean beef slaughtered that day directly from the slaughterhouse, then trims and serves it as soon as you order. The Korean beef yuk sashimi is vacuum-aged at a low temperature to bring out a deeper flavor and tender texture. That may be why I would recommend it to anyone who loves raw beef dishes and is looking for mungtigi in Daegu's Gyodong!

Every sauce was tasty, but the sharp aroma of garlic really came through in the sauces. Dipping the rich mungtigi in them was so delicious, haha. One half-and-half platter and drinks felt like an easy, no-pressure order for two, too. It is a great little place for a casual drink with a friend.
Fresh salmon and Tuesday–Friday service
I only had the yuk sashimi and mungtigi that day, but Yukyeonjeong Gyodong also has fresh salmon on the menu.

They say they break down and prepare whole salmon twice a week, then age it using the kombujime method, where fish is cured with kelp. It is said to have a chewy texture and lots of savory umami, so I want to try it next time too.
In particular, Tuesdays and Fridays are salmon delivery days, and they also offer grilled salmon service then, so salmon lovers may want to keep that in mind. It could be a quietly good option for anyone looking for salmon in Daegu's Gyodong as well.

An evening route from Daegu Station to Gyodong
Gyodong is also fairly close to Daegu Station, so if you are looking for mungtigi near Daegu Station, I recommend heading over to Gyodong for dinner! Wander the Gyodong alleys, then have dinner and a drink—it would make the perfect evening course! Haha.

Above all, I loved being able to taste yuk sashimi and mungtigi together on one platter in Daegu's Gyodong that day. If you like both, I really recommend ordering the half-and-half like I did :) The food and atmosphere were both comfortable overall, so I plan to come back the next time I crave mungtigi in Gyodong.

If you are looking for mungtigi in Daegu's Gyodong and want somewhere with a nice atmosphere that is not too noisy, keep Yukyeonjeong Gyodong Branch in mind. The combination of the yuk sashimi and mungtigi half-and-half platter with a drink worked better than I expected, so I was very happy with it! There is no dedicated parking, so if you drive, use the nearby Gyodong Parking Lot.
