Daegu bar for half Peking duck after dinner: Mirim Yangjang
In short
Mirim Yangjang Daegu is a Chinese-style bar in Jung-gu, Daegu, serving Peking duck. After dinner elsewhere, the writer ordered half a Peking duck and especially loved the crisp skin wrapped in pancakes. Verdict: a great choice for Peking duck and drinks after dinner.

While I was in Daegu for the first time in ages, I decided to meet a friend who lives there for dinner. We had already done our first round somewhere else and were wondering where to go next, when we decided on Mirim Yangjang Daegu, which has lately become known as a good spot in Daegu’s Gyodong area.
I’d actually visited Mirim Yangjang in Seoul about twice already, and I remembered eating so well there. So to me, it’s simply Mirim Yangjang—a place you can trust and go to.

Mirim Yangjang Daegu location and parking
Mirim Yangjang Daegu is on the first floor at 33 Gyodong 1-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu. Hours are 16:00–02:00 Monday through Friday and 12:00–02:00 Saturday through Sunday.
Mirim Yangjang does not provide parking, but my friend and I had driven, so we had to park at Gyodong Public Parking Lot. The daily maximum was around ₩10,000, which felt reasonable, and the lot was more spacious than I expected—so it seemed easy enough to bring a car without feeling too burdened.

Weekday evening table atmosphere
We visited at around 8 p.m. on a weekday evening, and quite a few tables were occupied. There may be a wait on weekends, so I recommend making a reservation before visiting. I had eaten so well at Mirim Yangjang last year that this return visit after a while felt especially nice.

By the time we were leaving, most guests had gone, so I took some photos of the empty areas too. The space is used well: there are lots of tables, but they are not packed too closely together, so it looked good for private-feeling group gatherings with friends. In fact, aside from us, most tables were groups.

Cards like these appeared according to the size of your party. It somehow felt like being in a gallery, which was interesting.

Side dishes and a drink
These are the basic side dishes at Mirim Yangjang Daegu. As you would expect from a Chinese restaurant, the banchan (small side dishes) arrived neatly presented.

We had so much to talk about after not seeing each other for a while. We had ordered soju and beer to have a drink at our first stop, so we ordered one of each at Mirim Yangjang Daegu too. My friend said they could open a beer with chopsticks, so I watched—but it was a fail, hahaha.

Half Peking duck, perfect for a second stop
Not long after we ordered, the half Peking duck arrived right away. The fact that they offer a half portion, which is easy to eat when you are visiting as a second stop, felt like a huge advantage.
The top part of the Peking duck had a wonderful texture thanks to its thin, crisp skin. I like Peking duck and go out for it often, and I think the quality at Mirim Yangjang Daegu is seriously excellent. Wrap the meat in a pancake with shredded scallions, cucumber, and a little sauce, and it is heaven 😇😇😇😇

Everything was set out so neatly that I happily took a photo. The Peking duck at Mirim Yangjang Daegu is seriously ridiculously delicious—I wish everyone in Daegu would try it.
I am not usually that fond of duck or chicken skin. But the Peking duck at Mirim Yangjang Daegu must have been grilled just right, because it was truly crispy, and even I, someone who does not usually like the skin, ate it so deliciously 🥹

My friend told me they had been studying so frantically lately that they had not been eating properly and had lost a lot of weight. But after we went to Mirim Yangjang, had a really delicious drink, and got their appetite back, they said they had been eating very well from the next day onward. That made me so happy, haha. I am definitely planning to come back again soon.
