In short

Taegyeongok is a Korean restaurant near Gyeongbuk Hospital Station in Dongin-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu. Visiting as a couple on a weekday at 5:40pm, the writer had Seoul-style bulgogi for 28,000 won and Hamhung naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) for 12,000 won, praising the mild seasoning and chewy noodles. A tidy, stylish spot that works equally well for a date or a meal with parents.

Today I'm sharing a very satisfying review from a press trip to Taegyeongok, a brand-new naengmyeon (cold noodle) spot that just opened in Dongin-dong, Daegu.

I've been so excited lately seeing more and more stylish owners opening great restaurants in Daegu. I'll keep introducing them one by one as I find them. Let's get into the review!

The atmosphere is so tidy and pretty that it's perfect for a couple's date course in Dongin-dong, and the food quality is so good it's just as fitting for treating your parents to a meal 💝 Stepping inside, the space felt refreshingly cool and impeccably clean.

A weekday evening visit — is a reservation a must?

The table setting is neat too. My partner and I visited on a weekday around 5:40pm — if you make a Naver reservation ahead of time, you can be seated right away with no waiting. (I'd recommend reserving.)

Seoul-style bulgogi, ₩28,000 — what's it like?

🥩 Sweet-savory sauce and tender meat: Seoul-style bulgogi (₩28,000)

We started with the signature dish, Seoul-style bulgogi. Just the neatly plated presentation was enough to make my mouth water!

Side dish plates at Taegyeongok

Every single side dish was delicious too — total rice thief!! They're refillable if you run out, and the staff were super kind.

Seoul-style bulgogi with light broth, vegetables, and mushrooms

The dish comes with a light broth piled high with vegetables, mushrooms, and tender bulgogi — the meat quality was really good, savory and soft with every bite. It wasn't overly sweet or salty; instead the sauce had a subtle, deep flavor that soaked well into the meat, so I never got tired of it even down to the last piece.

Rice mixed with bulgogi broth topped with a piece of meat

Mixing a spoonful of rice into the bulgogi broth and topping it with a piece of meat was pure bliss. It's a healthy, tidy flavor that's hard for anyone to dislike, so it also works well as a satisfying lunch near Gyeongbuk Hospital station. If you like noodles, add udon noodles and enjoy them with the bulgogi — it's very filling.

Selection of alcoholic drinks available at Taegyeongok

There's also a good range of alcohol that pairs well with the menu. The table next to us ordered jeondongju along with their naengmyeon. Next time I'll come by public transit so I can drink too.

Hamhung naengmyeon, ₩12,000 — the noodles and broth

🍜 Chewy noodles meet a tidy broth: Hamhung naengmyeon (₩12,000)

A bowl of Hamhung naengmyeon at Taegyeongok

You can't skip the Hamhung naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), a perfect match for the bulgogi. True to a newly opened naengmyeon spot in Daegu, the quality was next-level.

Thin, chewy Hamhung naengmyeon noodles

The thin, chewy texture that's the hallmark of Hamhung-style noodles was spot on, and the broth was clean yet deeply flavorful. Wrapping a piece of bulgogi in the noodles brought together savoriness and refreshing coolness in a combination that made my whole mouth happy. If you love naengmyeon, this is a place worth trying — you can taste the care that went into it.

From the sleek, stylish interior to the tidy side dishes and the carefully made main dishes, Taegyeongok delivered on every front. If you're looking for a delicious meal in a great atmosphere with someone special, I highly recommend stopping by Taegyeongok in Dongin-dong. Strongly recommended.
