Daegu seafood grill with outdoor seating: Nampo
In short
Nampo is a seafood grill and drinking spot in Jung-gu, Daegu, with outdoor seating. We shared half live shrimp/half grilled shrimp, six seasonal blue crabs, and sides, with the sauced crab and crab-shell rice standing out. Verdict: a great pick for seafood and drinks on a cool evening.

Grilled seafood at Gyodong outdoor seating
My friends and I visited Nampo (남포) in Gyodong for live shrimp and grilled blue crab. I’d wanted to try this place for ages, since you can have grilled clams, seafood, and all sorts of food at its outdoor seating—and we finally went just as the weather turned cool!!!

Grilled clams in Gyodong... how could that not make me happy...... And outdoor seating too...... There was no way I could skip it.

Nampo parking and seating
There’s a parking lot behind the restaurant. It fits about four cars, and there’s also a public parking lot a one-minute walk away, so keep that in mind.

The indoor and outdoor areas are both really spacious. There are tables for groups, and the floor seating can also be used by wheelchair users.

Grilled clams, grilled blue crab, and grilled shrimp are the main event, and there’s a wide variety of drinking snacks too, so it seems perfect for dinner and a drink.

From the complimentary sides to live shrimp and grilled crab
The complimentary sides included pork cutlet and a clam-and-fish-cake soup with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). I feel like I could finish a whole bottle of soju with just this... haha...
Half live shrimp/half grilled shrimp ₩55,000

The live shrimp were still wriggling around. Those little guys looked so delicious.... The soju was practically begging to go down in big gulps, you know? Dip them in that sauce that looks like Buldak mayo, and they’re seriously amazing.
Seasonal grilled blue crab (6 crabs) ₩56,000

You get six grilled blue crabs: two plain, two with spicy sauce, and two with mayonnaise. Set a timer for 10 minutes, flipping them over as they cook, then dig in.
Mukcham rolls ₩8,000

These are mukcham gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), made by rolling tuna and rice in aged kimchi. They have a straightforward, dependable flavor, so order them when you’re craving rice.
Round cream ong-simi ₩9,000

This is potato ong-simi (potato dough balls) in cream sauce. How should I put it? It tastes a bit like potato gnocchi—mild and really delicious. I recommend it when you need a savory, gently seasoned drinking snack.

The kalguksu is sooo good~~~ This complimentary snack would be even tastier on a cold day. Totally passes~

They butter-grilled the live shrimp heads for us. There’s surprisingly quite a bit of meat in them, and dipped in the sauce, they’re the ultimate beer snack.

These are grilled blue crabs with mayo and spicy sauce, and they’re definitely tastier than the plain ones. The bodies and legs are nice and full of meat, so I really recommend picking every bit of meat from each one.

Grilled shrimp and crab-shell rice to finish
Last up was the grilled shrimp! Honestly, grilled shrimp can’t go wrong. Dip it evenly in chojang (sweet-and-tangy chili sauce), soy sauce, and spicy sauce, and it becomes such a delicious drinking snack.

We ate blue crab—how could we possibly skip the crab-shell rice? Haha. They mix it with seaweed, sesame oil, and crab innards, and it’s even better grilled on the hot stone plate, so please, please try it that way!!

Outdoor seating wait and dessert
We visited on Thursday evening, and when we left there was a wait for the outdoor tables. If you want outdoor seating, I recommend making a Naver reservation!!

For dessert, they gave us Maeil Dairy milk ice cream! It’s packed tightly into a paper cup, and it was so good for refreshing my palate after all that rich food.

I finally visited Nampo, the Gyodong grilled-clam spot I’d had my eye on for ages, and as expected, the atmosphere and food were both great. I was so satisfied! Next time, I’m going back to demolish the grilled clams!!
