In short
Plan A Restaurant is a Western restaurant overlooking Songdo Beach in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. On a return visit with a friend, I tried chicken salad, whole shrimp pilaf, and white ragù beef cream spaghetti. Verdict: a lovely choice for a relaxed ocean-view meal with filling dishes.

Returning to Plan A Restaurant with a view of Pohang's Songdo sea
The weather has been so nice lately, so I went out to Songdo for a meal. It’s a great Western restaurant with a beautiful ocean view through floor-to-ceiling windows! It’s one of Pohang’s popular pasta spots, with regulars of all ages. It’s one of the few long-standing favorites in Songdo and a great Western-food place, so I came back with a friend—my repeat-visit spot in Pohang Songdo, haha.

The Songdo sea looked wide open even from a corner table
Plan A Restaurant is popular because you can dine while looking out at the Songdo sea! Above all, that ocean view is its charm. I sat at a slightly tucked-away table that day, but the sea still spread out clearly through the full-height windows, so I had no complaints.
Visit on a crisp, clear day like this and you can enjoy Songdo’s beautiful seascape too, so it seemed like a nice spot for a date or a family meal. It was quite windy on the day I visited, and there were lots of people paragliding from the beach, which was fun to watch, haha.

Pickles, a self-service bar, and kiosk ordering
When you order, they prepare one pickle serving per person. You can grab a self-service apron if needed, and extra pickles are easy to get from the self-service bar too.

After looking through the menu at our table, we ordered chicken salad, whole shrimp pilaf, and white ragù beef cream spaghetti that day. You can order conveniently using the kiosk at each table!

Crispy chicken salad worth ordering again
First up, the chicken salad! I actually ordered this on my last visit too, and I was so satisfied that I ordered it again. The salad greens were fresh, and above all, the dressing was delicious, so everything went nicely together.

The chicken on top wasn’t simply mild chicken breast—it was crispily and deliciously fried, so its texture worked well with the salad. There were plenty of tomatoes as well as chicken! With a good variety of vegetables and a generous portion, it was more filling than I expected.

Spicy whole shrimp pilaf that pairs well with creamy dishes
Next was the whole shrimp pilaf! It had a spicy kick, so it wasn’t heavy. True to its name, it came with large whole shrimp, and the plump shrimp had a great texture with the rice. The shrimp and other vegetables were all generously cut and tasty too!
The gentle heat makes this one that Korean-food lovers would enjoy too! Since that spice cuts through the richness, it paired especially well with the creamy dish.

White ragù cream spaghetti rich with beef and garlic
Finally, the white ragù beef cream spaghetti! I usually used to order seafood pasta at Plan A Restaurant, but this was my first time trying a ragù dish. A beef cream pasta could easily be rich, but Plan A’s was surprisingly not heavy at all.

The ragù sauce was packed with beef, so I could bite into meat with the noodles every time. It seemed to have been stir-fried with garlic for a long time, making it even tastier, and the beef and garlic flavors came through beautifully. The soft cream sauce gained a nutty, deep flavor, and I personally really enjoyed this dish.
A place for a relaxed meal while looking at the sea
The food at Plan A Restaurant in Songdo was tasty overall, but I think Plan A’s biggest strength is being able to enjoy a relaxed meal while looking at the sea. It’s a popular Songdo restaurant in Pohang for people of all ages, so there can be a wait during the weekend lunch rush! The owner was kind, and the food was good too.
If you’re looking for somewhere around Songdo to dine while enjoying an ocean view, Plan A Restaurant is a place where you can take in both the atmosphere and the food, so I think it’s worth a visit.
