Visit number N, the only sushi place near my old place
Here's another visit-number-N recommendation! Before I moved to my current place, this was the only sushi restaurant near my old home, and I went a few times — great value and really delicious sushi. Since it's no longer near where I live now, I hadn't been able to go often, which was a bummer! But then a sponsored visit opportunity came up, so I went back after a long while!

What's the vibe and seating like?
The interior combines white walls, wood-toned tables and chairs, and soft lighting for an overall cozy, comfortable feel! Cute artwork adds a nice touch too. There are three 4-person tables,

and a bar table in front of the open kitchen area that seats about 6 people,

plus 2 seats by the big window near the entrance! Little figurines are lined up neatly here and there, giving the place a warm, humble feel like a small local restaurant in Japan!

Checking out the neta in the showcase
The showcase neatly displays neta (ネタ, the fish and seafood toppings that go on sushi) sorted by type — from tuna to salmon to white fish — all freshly prepped and visible before you even order, which got me so excited before eating!

Food may take a while (reservation tip)
Sushi Naru is a small owner-chef restaurant where a single chef prepares all the sushi, so food doesn't come out fast! They slice each cut the moment you order, and they also handle takeout and delivery, so at peak times it can take a while. Even with a reservation, food may be delayed during the lunch peak (11:30–13:00), and since reservations are confirmed only via the owner's personal phone, bookings made less than an hour ahead may be hard to confirm — so it's best to book ahead and be a little patient, since they say the taste and quality will make up for it, worth keeping in mind!

Naver review service
If you leave a Naver review, you can choose 1 of:
- Jumbo shrimp tempura (2 pieces)
- Takoyaki (4 pieces)
- Curry croquette (2 pieces)
- 500mL soda
- Sushi (2 pieces)
as a freebie!
When we visited, all the 4-person tables were full, so we sat at the bar table!

Our order — Special Sushi (14 pieces), ₩25,000
Check the menu photo! We ordered two Special Sushi (14 pieces) sets at ₩25,000 each! Wasabi comes standard on the sushi, so if you can't eat wasabi, be sure to say so before ordering!

After ordering, they serve you salad, pickled radish, and ginger!

Mini udon service
Every main dish — sushi or meal sets — comes with a free mini udon! If you add cold soba or udon per person to your sushi or meal order, you'll get a curry croquette instead of the mini udon — but if you'd rather have the mini udon anyway, just let them know when ordering!

The Special Sushi 14-piece set: composition and taste
The long-awaited Special Sushi finally arrives...!!!!!!!
Sushi Naru Special Sushi composition: Flounder x2, salmon x1, engawa x1, seared salmon x1, akami (lean tuna) x1, uni (sea urchin) x1, scallop x1, otoro (fatty tuna) x1, red seabream x1, sweet shrimp x1, soy-marinated shrimp x1, beef x1, freshwater eel x1

Truly gorgeous... I always eat straight from left to right in the order they arrive on the platter! Honestly, words aren't needed, so I'll just show you in photos
Flounder
Salmon
Engawa
Seared salmon Unlike the usual seared salmon, this one was only very lightly seared, which is totally my style...!! And the aroma was amazing!!

Akami

Flounder

Pure bliss, this uni...!!!
Red seabream
Sweet shrimp + uni
Soy-marinated shrimp
Scallop
Otoro It really looks like beef, but it melts in your mouth ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Beef

And finally the freshwater eel..!! Truly not a single miss in this Special Sushi lineup. The composition matters, of course, but the taste of each individual piece matters just as much, right? Every single one left me speechless... I usually eat fast when something's delicious, and this time was no exception — I kept shoveling it in until my friend, who came with me, got worried and had to calm me down ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Side note — the friend who left her wedding invitation at the sushi place
Just a side note, but we met up so she could give me her wedding invitation, and maybe because she was so blown away by the sushi, she ended up leaving her invitation at Sushi Naru ^.^...... So out of nowhere I became the weird person who gave the owner a wedding invitation, haha. She'd been saying it felt awkward to come to her own wedding alone — guess she was planning to invite the Sushi Naru owner to eat together, haha.
Had another amazing meal here!! I'll be back again! Highly recommend Sushi Naru as a top sushi spot near Yeongdae Hospital Station in Daemyeong-dong!!!!
