Yangyang water leisure café for a family of five: Cafe Dunchi

In short

Cafe Dunchi is a riverside café on the Namdaecheon in Yangyang, Gangwon, with the café on the second floor and electric boats and other water leisure on the first. A family of five, nieces included, arrived just after 10am on a weekend, carried iced vanilla lattes down to the dock, and circled the Namdaecheon for 30 minutes with the writer's older sister at the wheel. Cafe Dunchi made a good closing stop on the last day of a Yangyang trip and works well for family visits.

I went on a family trip to Yangyang last weekend. On the way back to Seoul, I searched for things to do in Yangyang and found Cafe Dunchi. It's famous as a floating café on the Namdaecheon river, and besides the café itself, you can rent electric boats on the first floor. Here's how our visit went.

Where is Cafe Dunchi in Yangyang?

Cafe Dunchi & Leisure sits right along the Namdaecheon river in Yangyang. Naksansa Temple and Naksan Beach are about 5 minutes away by car. The parking lot was huge, and there's a public restroom right out front.

The view in front of the café was gorgeous too. Nearby is Namdaecheon Salmon Ecology Park, with a deck road and observation deck surrounded by reeds and silver grass — great for a stroll.

The interior vibe was so pretty. We visited a bit after 10am on a weekend, and it was already pretty crowded haha.

After splitting up according to the boat's weight limit, a staff member explains how to operate it — moving forward, stopping, and steering!

My sister decided to drive.

Electric boat table with a spot to hold drinks

There was even a spot on the table to hold our drinks, so we could enjoy them comfortably while riding. My nieces loved it haha.

This is the café view I took from a bit of a distance on the boat — isn't it so pretty?!

The view is really picture-perfect, so make sure to take some photos.

The boat even connects to Bluetooth, so you can listen to music while riding — which made it even more romantic.

Enjoying the Namdaecheon scenery from the boat

Sipping my iced vanilla latte while taking in the Yangyang scenery — it tasted so good haha.
