Cheonan crab soup restaurant with ₩100 baby rice for kids: Huni Gejang
In short
Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch is a blue crab soup and soy-marinated crab restaurant on Taejosan-gil in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan. The order was a small blue crab soup with two stone-pot rice bowls, and the Yeonpyeongdo crab meat and roe were picked out and piled onto the rice, while kiosk side-dish refills, baby chairs and a ₩100 baby rice option made the meal easy with a child along. Today I'm sharing a story about the ultimate rice thief — a proper crab soup and soy-marinated crab restaurant!!
I've always loved soy-marinated crab and spicy blue crab soup, so I tend to seek out well-known spots. This time I visited a Yuryang-dong, Cheonan restaurant specializing in blue crab soup and soy crab — Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch (훈이꽃게장 천안본점) — and it exceeded my expectations, big time!

- Directions: by car, about 5–10 minutes from Cheonan Terminal, within 10 minutes from Dongnam-gu Office, and about 30 minutes from Cheonan-Asan Station — an easy spot to swing by~
They said that once the day's prepared ingredients run out, they close for the day, so if you're planning a late visit, I'd recommend calling ahead to check whether ingredients are still available!

There's a well set-up dedicated parking area, so it was easy to visit by car. This spot is perfect for a drive-and-dine course near Taejosan!

Is the restaurant comfortable with a child along?
Stepping inside, the clean, pleasant interior stood out right away. The tables are long with good spacing, so group meals work well too~ There's also a baby chair set up on one side of the store, so families with young kids can dine comfortably.

Every table is neatly covered with a disposable sanitary sheet, so even a clumsy eater like me didn't have to worry about spills while eating crab haha. Plus, they thoughtfully provide pocket sanitary gloves so you can pick apart the crab comfortably by hand!

Ordering at the kiosk, and baby rice for ₩100
You can order easily right at the table via kiosk. The soy-marinated crab and the fresh roe crab set menu stood out! What surprised me while browsing was that the baby rice menu is sold for just ₩100 — I thought this place is really the best spot for a family outing with kids.
We ordered a small blue crab soup, two stone-pot rice, and a Fanta. Just so you know, rice isn't included with the crab soup by default, so you need to order rice or stone-pot rice separately!

Huni Gejang uses domestic Yeonpyeongdo blue crab and Sinan shrimp — regional specialty ingredients recognized nationwide! Yeonpyeongdo crab is known for its firm meat and deep sweetness, and Sinan shrimp is known for its plump texture — I was already excited before even eating.

Side dishes you can refill at the kiosk
I first tried each of the neatly set basic side dishes one by one, and honestly every single one was so good!

You could feel the care in each side dish — kimchi, bracken fern namul, soft tofu, and more! The crab soup takes about 15 minutes to cook after ordering, and while waiting I ended up finishing all the side dishes because they were so good lol.

What was unusual was that you can order refills of the basic side dishes by type directly from the kiosk! The side dishes were so tasty!! So I requested a refill via the kiosk, and the owner actually gave us even more than the first serving — I was really grateful and touched haha.

The small blue crab soup, after the 5-minute sand timer
As we kept refilling and eating the side dishes while waiting, the crab soup finally arrived~!
Big chunks of green onion sitting on top, with plump crabs peeking through underneath — such a mouthwatering visual!!
They set a 5-minute sand timer on the table together with the soup! The friendly owner explained that once the sand runs out after 5 minutes, we could dig in right away~! While waiting for the sand to fall, the delicious smell wafted over and built up even more anticipation.

Five minutes later, I finally tasted the crab soup! The crab inside was huge, and you could tell right away the ingredients were really fresh.
The broth was spicy yet deep and refreshing — a real standout — I couldn't put my spoon down. I could really understand why this place is famous as the go-to crab soup and soy crab restaurant in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan.

Yeonpyeongdo crab packed with meat and roe
I put on the pocket sanitary gloves and dug into the crab properly! The meat was packed in solidly all the way through, so there was plenty to pick apart~! The plump, springy white crab meat and the rich, savory yellow roe were both so good~! No fishy taste at all, just the deep, rich umami of real Yeonpyeongdo crab, with the spicy broth soaked right in — so delicious!!

Piling crab meat onto the stone-pot rice
Piling the plump, springy crab meat generously onto the freshly cooked stone-pot rice, still full of nutty aroma, was the best combination. Mixing the spicy crab soup broth into the rice, a whole bowl disappeared in the blink of an eye! Washing it down with cold Fanta in between made for a perfect meal.
If you want to properly taste crab packed with meat and a spicy, refreshing broth near Cheonan, I strongly recommend visiting Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch, the crab soup and soy crab specialist in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan!
