If you're in Daejeon these days, a pork bone grill place is a must. As someone who really loves grilled bones, I went to the newly hot spot in Daehung-dong, Yeonam Charcoal-Grilled Pork Backbone & Gamjatang. This was my third visit today, haha.

Where Yeonam is in Daehung-dong, and how the wait and booking work
Yeonam Charcoal-Grilled Pork Backbone & Gamjatang is in the Daehung-dong Hyundai Sikdang alley, right in front of Hyundai Sikdang. Even visiting at 5:30 pm on a weekday there was a wait, so I'd recommend booking via Naver Reservations before you go (same-day booking isn't possible).
This is the Hyundai Sikdang alley in Daehung-dong! Right in front of Hyundai Sikdang you'll spot Yeonam Charcoal-Grilled Bones. This whole alley seems to be packed with good restaurants, haha.
🗣️ Waiting tip — this place is so hot right now that even at 5:30 pm on a weekday there was a wait. You register at the Catch Table kiosk by the entrance and wait in the waiting area, but Naver reservations are also available, so I'd recommend booking ahead!! (Same-day reservations aren't possible.)

Inside Yeonam: seating, atmosphere and room for group dinners
Inside, Yeonam Charcoal-Grilled Pork Backbone & Gamjatang is spread across the first and second floors and felt spacious enough for a group dinner. Even so, on a weekday evening every seat was already taken, so if I'd arrived just a bit later I might not have gotten a table.
The inside was really spacious. It looked like it could handle group dinners easily, and every seat was full — if I'd been a little later I really might not have been able to sit down… scary. My go-to spot has gotten so popular. The moment we sat at our assigned table, a staff member set out spoons and water for us right away… 👍🏻 Super friendly service here.

Yeonam's menu and the new aged kimchi pressure-cooker braised pork bones
The Yeonam Charcoal-Grilled Pork Backbone & Gamjatang menu is built around hot pot, bone hangover soup, and grilled bones, but this time they had an aged kimchi pressure-pot bone stew I hadn't seen before, so I ordered it right away. Sides include naengmyeon (cold noodles), ramen, crispy potato pancake, rice balls, and steamed egg.
The menu had hot pot, bone hangover soup, and grilled bones, but I spotted an aged kimchi pressure-pot bone stew I hadn't seen before!!! Couldn't resist a new menu item, so I ordered it right away ^_^ There are also sides like naengmyeon, ramen, crispy potato pancake, rice balls, and steamed egg, so keep that in mind, haha.

How big is the small aged kimchi braised pork bones at 39,000 won?
The aged kimchi pressure-pot bone stew, small, is ₩39,000, and it arrives in the pressure pot itself about 15 minutes after ordering. Even at the small size, the portion was enormous — big enough for three people.
✔️ Aged kimchi pressure-pot bone stew, small (₩39,000) — after about a 15-minute wait, the pressure pot finally opened!! The moment the lid came off, the sheer volume caught my eye, and even though it was the small size, the amount was insane lol. The aged kimchi pieces inside were huge too, so it looked like a really hearty spread just from the sight of it. Passed the portion test right off the bat!!

What does Yeonam's 2,400-hour aged kimchi taste like?
The kimchi pieces were huge and the bones were seriously massive too!! Apparently the kimchi is aged for a whopping 2,400 hours, and you could really taste that depth. The side dishes that came with it paired so well with the bone stew that they were perfect to eat one at a time alongside it.

Kimchi, pork and rice together: why Yeonam wins for kimchi jjim in Daehung-dong
The kimchi + meat + rice combo is a total rice thief. I finally found a place that does kimchi jjim well in Daehung-dong, Daejeon…!! It was so good I felt like I could come eat here every single day lol. If you're looking for Korean food in Daehung-dong, Daejeon, come here.

Mixing it into the sauce below adds even more savoriness, giving it a deeper layer of flavor. The kimchi being just a bit spicy was really the kicker!! 🌶️ So the meat and rice go together perfectly, haha. I just kept eating it lol, seriously amazing, so good. And the portion is huge again, so I think three people could easily eat it together!!
