Last weekend we went to Paju Lotte Outlet with the kids and had dinner afterward at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap (심학산 들꽃쌈밥), a Paju outlet-area restaurant famous for its ssambap. We ate so well and felt so full that I think we'll come back next time we're at Paju Outlet haha.

Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap is on Dolgoji-gil, close to Paju Lotte Outlet, with free parking right in front of the restaurant. We arrived late so it was already dark, haha.

Arriving at 7pm and ordering the flower set for two
We arrived around 7pm and it was already packed. We ordered the flower set for two, which comes with grilled fish. The tables were roomy, so it looked like a good spot for family gatherings or group visits too.
The self-serve wrap-greens bar
The basic banchan (side dishes) come pre-set, but the wrap greens are self-serve. So fresh! Lettuce, perilla leaves, kale, napa cabbage, and all kinds of fresh organic wrap vegetables are provided generously. If you run out, there's a self-serve bar where you can grab as much as you like — total paradise if you love vegetables.
Side dishes and doenjang stew with the set
The basic banchan were neatly set out. None of them were too salty.
The savory doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) was delicious. I could've eaten a whole bowl of rice with just this stew, haha.
How are the stir-fried pork and squid?
The smoky mains were amazing: spicy-sweet stir-fried pork (jeyuk bokkeum) and stir-fried squid with a nice charred aroma. The squid wasn't chewy at all — nice and springy — and the pork had no gamey smell, with the sauce soaked in perfectly. Total rice thief! We adults ended up eating more heartily than the kids, haha. Mixing the squid and pork together made it even better.
The stir-fried squid and pork mains weren't too heavily seasoned and had a clean flavor everyone can enjoy, kids and adults alike. Overall, nothing was too salty — just right. I think it'd suit adult palates well too.
Stone-pot rice, right down to the nurungji
With the freshly served stone-pot rice, you can scoop out the rice, pour in hot water, and make nurungji (scorched rice tea) to finish.

The two grilled fish that come with the flower set for two
When we ordered the flower set for two, we got one mackerel and one grilled atka mackerel — worth knowing if you're planning to order this. The fish was grilled so tender, somehow — I could never get it this soft at home, haha. The kids wanted to eat just the fish, but I made sure to feed them rice along with it too.
The deuljeongsik set doesn't include fish, but everything else is the same.
Tips for families dining with children
- ✅ Kids' meal: With the mild basic banchan, savory doenjang jjigae, plenty of gentle vegetable side dishes, and such tender grilled fish, it's easy to put together food the kids can eat.
- ✅ Course suggestion: We came here on our way home, but it also works well to eat here first, then head to Paju Outlet — a great plan for a weekend outing with kids.
Free coffee and ice cream for dessert
On the way out there's coffee and ice cream for dessert. The coffee machine even has hot chocolate!
