Bombay Brew, a Sejong couple's go-to Indian curry restaurant

It's so good that our couple absolutely loves it — our go-to Indian curry place, Bombay Brew. This time too, I couldn't stop thinking about their curry and naan, so we went back. I looked up what the name Bombay Brew means — turns out it combines 'Bombay (Mumbai),' the big Indian city, with the German word for brewery. They don't seem to sell much beer here though, so why 'brew'? A little mystery about the name of Bombay Brew that's stayed with me 👀

Is Bombay Brew a good date spot in Sejong?

You get an exotic feel right from the entrance, but once inside, it's much calmer and more atmospheric than expected. Dark wood tones, soft lighting and big windows come together to feel more like a nice restaurant than a casual Indian eatery.

The tables are spaced generously too, so it was great for a leisurely meal as a couple, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a family meal spot as well.

What comes in the 52,900 won couple set?

Since there were two of us, we ordered the couple set, and there are also various sets for 3 or 4 people.

This time again we went with the couple set, ₩52,900. The couple set comes with 2 samosas, 2 pieces of tandoori chicken, 2 curries, 2 naan, turmeric rice, chicken salad, and 2 drinks. You can choose classic, butter, or garlic naan, with an extra charge if you switch to cheese naan. There's a good variety of curries too, so you can pick to your taste. On weekdays from 11am to 3pm there's also a separate lunch set, so if you're looking for a good lunch spot in Sejong, this could be worth a visit.

Portion sizes at Bombay Brew, starting with the chicken salad

The chicken salad that arrived first was already quite generous. Vegetables, corn, and tomato topped with chicken made for a nice light bite before diving into the curry properly. I expected a small salad thrown in just to round out the set menu, but this was substantial enough to be a main in its own right.

Raspberry lassi and mango lassi

For drinks we ordered raspberry lassi and mango lassi. Sipped between bites of rich curry and naan, the smooth, sweet flavor resets your palate nicely — a great pairing. Lassi is just so good every single time 🩷💛

Cheese butter chicken and prawn korma

The curry arrives warm in a large bowl, and once you start tearing off naan and scooping it up generously, it really goes down easily. Depending on the type, the flavors range from creamy and mild to a deeper, richer taste, so it's fun to pick two curries and alternate between them. We ordered cheese butter chicken and prawn korma. Even as a picky eater, I always eat surprisingly well here.

The couple set also comes with samosas and tandoori chicken. The golden-fried samosas are great for a crispy bite, and with tandoori chicken added on top, the table is already packed before the curry even shows up. It's a set for two, but it's seriously generous. Every time we come, no matter how hard we eat, we usually end up leaving with almost one whole main dish uneaten.

Naan bigger than your hand

And I can't leave out the naan here. It doesn't look that big in photos, so I held it up against my hand — mine's a big hand — and it's way bigger! Tearing off a chunk of the thick, freshly baked naan and dipping it deep into the warm curry is genuinely delicious. Usually if the naan is disappointing I don't reach for it much no matter how good the curry is, but here the naan itself is so good I keep tearing off more.

Has Indian food always tasted this good?

If anyone asks me for an Indian restaurant recommendation, I strongly recommend Bombay Brew. I've traveled to India before, and this really tastes close to the local food — and out of all the Indian restaurants I've tried in Korea, this is the best!

The atmosphere is great for a date, and the food is so good with such generous portions that it's now completely our go-to spot as a couple. If you want a different kind of date menu in Sejong, or you're looking for a hearty Indian meal in Sejong, this is a must-visit!
