Sunday dinner at a Naseong-dong Thai restaurant in Sejong: Mekong Thai

I picked Thai food for Sunday dinner. Craving cool broth with rice noodles, I stopped by Mekong Thai in Naseong-dong, Sejong on my way back from running errands in Daejeon.

Mekong Thai is an Asian food specialty restaurant where you can enjoy both Vietnamese and Thai dishes together. It's an easygoing Asian food restaurant with plenty of dishes anyone can enjoy comfortably.

I love pho with cool brisket broth loaded with bean sprouts. It's the flavor I crave more as the weather cools down.

Pho also seems like a dish anyone can eat comfortably. The Naseong branch I visited today felt even better because the space was clean and uncluttered.

Maybe it was because I visited a bit past dinnertime??

Window seats, group tables and QR ordering at Mekong Thai

Mekong Thai Naseong Branch has a wide hall near the entrance and group seating to the right. There are also window seats with a view outside, so I sat by the window.

Ordering was easy since you just scan the QR code attached at the end of the table.

Beef pho (medium) Nasi goreng Shrimp pencil spring rolls

While ordering, I noticed a receipt review event, so I joined in. You could choose either a free pho noodle top-up or a drink, so I went with the noodle top-up.

At one end of the table, side plates, napkins, chopsticks, and spoons were neatly set out. Like at other Thai specialty restaurants, they gave me a tea-like water to sip while I waited for the food. I was looking forward to it since it had been a while since I'd had Thai food.

Nasi goreng and shrimp pencil spring rolls

While I was sipping tea, the food came out.

I ordered the nasi goreng not spicy. You can adjust the spice level when ordering, so choose according to your taste. Nasi goreng is a fried rice dish, and it was my first time trying it at Mekong Thai, so I was curious. The shrimp pencil spring rolls were really as long as pencils...

Crispy spring rolls are always so good...

Brisket beef pho and the receipt review noodle refill

The pho came out soon after. Brisket beef pho is such an easy, comforting dish. The portion was really generous.

Personally, I love pickled onions so much. Paired with pho, they add a nice cleanness. I started with the noodles first. Onion, bean sprouts, plenty of chopped green onion~~~ the broth was exactly to my taste.

I also added the free noodle top-up from the review event and enjoyed a hearty bowl.

I made my own sauce with the chili sauce and hoisin sauce set on the table to make it even tastier.

If you like it spicy, add more hoisin sauce, and if you want it milder like me, add a bit more chili sauce.

I asked for extra bean sprouts, which I love, and added them in. They'll give you bean sprouts, cilantro, and lemon if you ask.

I ate it with pickled onions, plain, and with sauce too~~~ all of it was so good.

Eating the spring rolls with a spoonful of broth lets you enjoy both the light flavor and the crispiness together.

The nasi goreng, which I was trying for the first time, came with something like nuts on top, and eating them together made it even nuttier and better.

I enjoyed the nasi goreng topped with a soft-boiled egg and shrimp. It would taste even better if you adjust the spice to be a bit spicier.

2 hours of free parking in Naseong-dong: an easy Sunday meal

After finishing everything, I felt more full and satisfied than I expected. I think the free noodle top-up from the review event played a big part.

I recommend doing the review event to get extra pho noodles. If you register your parking at the entrance, you get up to 2 hours free, so you can eat comfortably without worrying about parking.
