Soy sauce shishito pepper chicken to go, Yesan market: Sijang
In short
Sijang Dakbokkeum is a soy sauce chicken stir-fry restaurant at stall 174 in Yesan Market, Yesan-gun, Chungnam. On the last day of a two-day trip, the writer ordered the basic menu via kiosk, waited about 25 minutes, and took it home in a microwave-safe container. Unlike red dakbokkeumtang, this soy sauce version worked well both as a rice side and as a drinking snack.

Sijang Dakbokkeum inside Yesan Market, taken home
If you're traveling to Yesan, you really have to stop by Sijang Dakbokkeum inside Yesan Market :) The market was seriously packed with people haha. There's a Jangteo Square in the market where you can eat your takeout, so lots of people were eating there too haha. I went on the last day of my one-night, two-day trip after already having a meal, so I took it home 〰️

Finding stall 174
Sijang Dakbokkeum is at stall 174 haha. Right after you walk in, there's an eating area, and if you walk a little further into the main street, you'll find it haha. I found it pretty quickly haha.

I'm posting this too, thinking it might make it easier to find haha. I thought everyone visiting Yesan already knew about this place haha. There are so many people in the square haha. Once you park your car, the square is right there haha. There are lots of entrances haha.

Only one in the whole country-!! Only at Yesan Market 〰️〰️ Fresh shishito peppers and dakbokkeum full of smoky flavor haha. Shishito pepper dakbokkeum haha.

Kiosk ordering, 25-minute wait with a KakaoTalk alert
You order at the kiosk once you go in haha. Six parties had already ordered ahead of me haha. You pick the menu and enter your number at the end, and you get a KakaoTalk alert haha. They told me it would take about 25 minutes haha. You can order the basic version, and you can add extra noodles too haha. I ordered the basic one haha.

Rice, water, drinks, and alcohol are sold at Jangteo Square haha.

If you leave a Naver receipt review, you get apple sparkling water haha. I just bought an apple smoothie separately at the stall out front haha. Hygiene grade: excellent-!!

The apple smoothie I drank while waiting
The apple smoothie comes with a cute drink tube stuck in the bottom haha. You just pick whichever one you like haha. Since Yesan is famous for apples, there was apple slush too 🍎 🍏

My son picked the rainbow cloud shape and I picked the flamingo one >_<

While I was browsing the market, I noticed the KakaoTalk alert had come in, so I went to pick it up haha. There's so much to see and eat inside Yesan Market, so if you're traveling to Yesan, I really recommend a Yesan trip haha.

Microwaving it at home
I ate it once I got home haha. You can transfer it to a pot and heat it up, or since it's in a microwave-safe container, it's convenient to just microwave it haha. I just microwaved it for convenience haha.

What does the soy sauce dakbokkeum taste like?
Since it has shishito peppers in it, the shishito pepper aroma really came through haha. The seasoning is on the salty side so it goes well with rice too haha. I had it as a drinking snack haha. The sauce turned out to be a soy sauce base haha. I've always had the red dakbokkeumtang, so this new soy sauce version was refreshing haha. It has a different feel from jjimdak (braised chicken) too haha.

It had a nice variety with rice cake, shishito peppers, green onion, onion, and garlic mixed in haha. My son isn't great with spicy food, but he ate a bit of the rice cake and meat (with water on hand) haha. Yesan Market has areas for eating your takeout right there, so it's good to eat it fresh on the spot, or take it back to your accommodation while traveling haha. A lot of people were taking it back to their lodging to eat too haha. Sijang Dakbokkeum, a must-try at Yesan Market :) Parking available
