Dujeong-dong budae-jjigae restaurant with an 8-person room: Cheongwon

I want to introduce a budae-jjigae (army stew) restaurant near Dujeong Station where you can enjoy unlimited rice and ramyeon noodles. This is a place I've visited before — honestly the best budae-jjigae in Cheonan in my opinion, so I kept thinking about it and went back! The add-ons are really generous, and the Songtan-style Hanwoo beef mince, sausage, ham, and deep broth make it a place with real charm. Here's my Dujeong-dong restaurant recommendation!

Where is Cheongwon Restaurant, and where do you park?

Cheongwon Cheonan Dujeong Main Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Dujeong Station. There's parking for about 4 cars in front of the restaurant. When I visited around 1pm on a Saturday, it was really busy.

When I arrived around 1pm, the place was completely full. Being a weekend, there were all kinds of customers — families, couples, friends. Confirmed as a favorite among locals in Dujeong-dong.

I didn't know they had a room, but since there were no regular seats left, I was shown to one. If you're dining as a group of up to 8, you can use the room too. It ended up being nice to enjoy things more privately, haha.

They also have high chairs available.

Unlimited rice and ramyeon at the self-serve corner

This is the self-serve corner. There's kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, ramyeon noodles, and rice. You can also grab an apron here. Note that the stir-fried fish cake, one of the basic side dishes, isn't at the self-serve corner — you'll need to ask staff for it.

The rice cooker was packed full of rice! Nice that you can scoop as much as you want without feeling awkward.

Menu and prices: Songtan budae-jjigae vs Cheongwon budae-jjigae

Here's the menu. The signature Songtan budae-jjigae and the appealing Cheongwon budae-jjigae are the two headline dishes. The Cheongwon version adds beef brisket and cheongyang chili to the Songtan version, making it a bit more oily and spicier.

Domestic green onions, onions, and even 1++ grade Hanwoo beef mince — a really excellent spot!

A tip for enjoying it while you wait for the food — worth a quick read!

These are the basic side dishes: seasoned bean sprouts, napa cabbage kimchi, and stir-fried fish cake. The fish cake isn't at the self-serve corner, so you'll need to request it separately!

Cheongwon budae-jjigae for two plus ham and sausage: how big is the portion?

Here's the Cheongwon budae-jjigae with the ham and sausage add-on. The staff covered it with a lid and would come back later to open it, but I couldn't resist my curiosity and opened it myself, haha. Really generously packed, right? Loaded with red pepper flakes and cheongyang chili — perfect for a hangover or just a regular meal.

When it was ready, staff came over, opened the lid, and stirred it with a ladle. Doesn't it look really appetizing? And to think this is just for 2 people... honestly it's an amount that could easily feed 3.

Scoop after scoop with the ladle and there's still so much left, haha, it's really no joke.

There were two types of ham plus sausage, and you could really taste real meat texture in it — genuinely delicious. Good enough that I'd want to buy some separately! The beef brisket was tender and tasty too.

How spicy is the broth? About as hot as Shin Ramyun

The broth's spiciness is about the level of Shin Ramyun. A rich bone broth base plus deep flavor from the ham, sausage, and beef mince — one of the best budae-jjigaes I've had.

No exaggeration, my girlfriend and I each scooped from the plate about 3-4 times!!

When staff first set the table, they also brought out a kettle of broth — if you run low, you can pour more in yourself.

Ramyeon noodles, the perfect partner for budae-jjigae, can't be left out, right? Even big eaters can eat their fill here. Ramyeon noodles are unlimited too!! They were really delicious soaked in the rich broth.

And so we refilled the rice too and stuffed ourselves completely.

Stamp card, coffee vending machine and Chuseok closing days

They're also running a loyalty event where you get a free ham/sausage add-on after 10 visits. And on your way out, there's a ground coffee and instant coffee vending machine right by the entrance!

Closed September 24-26 for the Chuseok holiday, back to normal hours on September 27 — please keep that in mind!
