Spicy yukgaejang hangover cure with family in Cheonan: Yukdaejang
In short
Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch is a beef bone yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) specialist near the Baekseok-dong convention center in Cheonan. Visiting for Sunday lunch hangover relief with parents and a girlfriend after drinking the night before, the writer ordered traditional yukgaejang, spicy yukgaejang, and two bowls of spicy beef knife-cut noodles plus rice for around ₩50,000, with the spicy version landing around Buldak Bokkeum-myeon heat and the regular version milder than Shin Ramyun. I went to eat yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), my dad's soul food. It's made with proper beef bone broth and you can add spicy heat too — there's a range of yukgaejang types, plus mild seolleongtang (ox bone soup) and mandu-guk (dumpling soup) the kids can eat, and even bossam (boiled pork wraps) for a drink in the evening. It's a great Cheonan yukgaejang spot for both a companion drink and a hangover cure, so let me introduce it!

Location and parking — near the Baekseok-dong convention center
It's located near the Baekseok-dong convention center. The parking space is huge, so it was really nice to visit by car!

It's located next to Lee Woo-cheol Korean Herbal Samgyetang. Is that the model featured — So Yi-hyun's husband, In Gyo-jin? Anyway, my parents, my girlfriend and I had all been drinking the night before, haha, so we all headed over together on Sunday around noon. Cheonan yukgaejang hangover cure, let's go!
Interior and seating

The interior had a clean design. From 2-seat tables up to sofa seating that can be pushed together for a group of 4 — the space was really tidy, and the owner greeted us super warmly too.

There's a baby chair available too!

The bathroom was located inside the restaurant.

At the self-service corner there were side dishes, small plates, and aprons available.
Menu — rice, boiled noodles, fresh noodles, and the spicy yukgaejang option

The menu was posted at the counter and also available on a tablet PC at each table. You could choose rice, boiled noodles (yu-kal-myeon), or fresh noodles (saeng-yu-kal-myeon) with your yukgaejang! The boiled noodles are slightly curly like ramyeon, while the fresh noodles are the kind you'd normally picture as kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). There's also a spicy yukgaejang option for people like me who love spicy food! The regular yukgaejang has a spice-level add-on too, and the staff said the spice add-on is the same as ordering the spicy yukgaejang.

Side dishes and table setting
The side dishes were kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), stir-fried fish cake, and seasoned chives. If you run out, you can grab more at the self-service corner. The kkakdugi was delicious!!

Pepper and salt were provided at the table.

The food came out pretty quickly. The one in the top left is the traditional yukgaejang, which didn't look much different from the outside.

Spicy beef knife-cut noodles: taste and spice level
Here's the spicy beef knife-cut noodles! There was a generous amount of noodles! It had green onion and beef brisket in it.
The brisket was genuinely tender. So soft.

The broth spice level of the spicy yukgaejang is about Buldak Bokkeum-myeon (fire noodle) level. With the rich beef bone broth, it's the textbook flavor of a well-made yukgaejang.

There was a lot of green onion in it, which added a refreshing note to the flavor too.

The traditional yukgaejang was fine even for those who can't handle spice
The regular traditional yukgaejang comes with rice, but it also had quite a lot of glass noodles (dangmyeon) mixed in. The regular spice level is milder than Shin Ramyun, so even my mom, who can't eat very spicy food, enjoyed it well!

The rice was firm and just right for mixing into the soup! Props to the owner, they really know their stuff! Even though it's the knife-cut noodle dish, rice is a must, so we added it, haha.

Mixing the rice into the broth and taking a bite feels like a proper, complete meal!

Topping it with kkakdugi makes it even more delicious.

In the end, my dad and I finished the broth to the very last drop. My dad really likes yukgaejang, and he said he'd probably be coming back often. Cheonan yukgaejang restaurant, approved!

There's a mixed coffee vending machine at the entrance too, so grab a cup of coffee on your way out.
Summary
Parking is easy, and it's conveniently close to Buldang-dong, Dujeong-dong, and Seongseong-dong too! With options ranging from spicy to mild, it's easy to order according to your taste! The spice level of the spicy yukgaejang is about Buldak Bokkeum-myeon level.
