While hunting for a good dakgalbi spot in Cheonan, my boyfriend and I ended up at Choigo Dakgalbi for lunch in Bulldang-dong. The place was spacious and clean, and with plenty of cheese and add-ons piled on top of a generous amount of chicken, it was a filling meal for both of us.

Location, hours, and parking at Choigo Dakgalbi
Every time I passed the sports complex, the green exterior and red sign caught my eye. Trying to pick a hearty place to eat with my boyfriend, I finally went into Choigo Dakgalbi, which I'd always been curious about.
The address is 201 Beonyeong-ro, 1st floor, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam. It's open daily from 11:30 to 22:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00. Parking in the building is free for two hours, which made it easy to visit by car.

Interior and group seating

The inside was much roomier than it looked from outside. Light pouring in through the large windows blended nicely with the wood-toned partitions, so it never felt cramped, and the tables were neatly arranged.
There was also solid group seating, so this place would work not just for a date but for a family meal or a company dinner too. Worth remembering if you're looking for a Bulldang-dong spot to go with a group.

Menu lineup and the lunch discount price
The menu ranges from the basic Choigo Dakgalbi to cheese dakgalbi, cold buckwheat soba, cold yeolmu buckwheat noodles, and flying fish roe fried rice. The basic dakgalbi is ₩24,000 for 2 servings and ₩48,000 for 4 servings, or ₩12,000 per person.
🍯 At the time of our visit, the basic menu was discounted to ₩11,000 per person from 11:30 to 14:00. Worth keeping in mind if you're deciding on lunch in Bulldang-dong.
Spice runs from mild to spicy across four levels, and you can add rice cake, cheese, ramyeon, sausage, or sweet potato. There was also a note saying they use 99% mozzarella cheese, so we went with the cheese option from among the Bulldang-dong dakgalbi menu.

What's on the self-serve banchan bar

Side dishes here are self-serve from the start. Cold bean sprout soup, dried radish strips, pickled radish, ssamjang, lettuce, and pickled radish wraps were all set out at the self-serve bar. No need to wait for a basic setting — you just take what you like, which was convenient.
We grabbed the wrap vegetables and cold soup first, and a spoonful of the cool broth went really well between bites of spicy dakgalbi.

Cheese dakgalbi for three, fully cooked when it arrives
✔️ We ordered cheese dakgalbi for three people at spice level 3, and added cheese rice cake, ramyeon, sweet potato, and Vienna sausage. Even though there were only two of us, we couldn't skip the add-ons.
It came out about 10 minutes after ordering, and the chicken was already fully cooked, so all we had to do was melt the cheese. They use 20 kinds of house-made sauce and 100% domestic chicken, fully cooked on a 38cm cast-iron pan. Coming to Bulldang-dong for dakgalbi, we didn't have to check if anything was done — we could just focus on eating.
A pan piled high

A long strip of white cheese ran down the center of the big pan, with red-sauced chicken and add-ons piled on either side. Sesame seeds sprinkled on top made it look even more appetizing. Having the cheese in the middle also made it easy for each of us to scoop from our own side.
It wasn't just a pile of vegetables — the chicken portion was generous, and bits of the basic rice cake showed up here and there too, which was satisfying. It matched exactly what we'd hoped for from a hearty Bulldang-dong restaurant.
Mozzarella that stretches for miles
Once the cheese melted, lifting it up together with the chicken made it stretch out long. It was such a photogenic moment I wanted to film it.
The salty, soft cheese wrapped around the spicy sauce made everything taste even richer. The texture was chewy and stretchy at first, then melted smoothly in the mouth. If you like cheese, try alternating between eating it plain and wrapped in cheese.

Which extra add-ons are worth getting
There's basic rice cake already, but the cheese rice cake add-on was worth it. The chewy rice cake had savory cheese inside, giving a different flavor than the basic kind.
The ramyeon had curly noodles well coated in sauce, fun to eat almost like rabokki. The sweet, fluffy sweet potato contrasted nicely with the spicy sauce, and the Vienna sausage added a springy texture with a salty kick — a nice extra. Each add-on tasted different, so our chopsticks stayed busy going back and forth.

Chicken texture and the pairing with pickled radish

The chicken was cooked through but still tender, not tough at all. The more you chewed, the more the moist meat blended with the sauce — it was delicious even eaten on its own. Exactly the hearty meal we'd hoped for while hunting for good food in Cheonan.
Wrapped in lettuce it tastes fresh, and with cheese draped over it, savory. But my top recommendation is the pickled radish wrap! The tangy, crunchy pickled radish cut through the sauce cleanly, so I kept reaching for it. Be sure to grab some from the self-serve bar when you're having dakgalbi in Bulldang-dong.

Finishing with flying fish roe fried rice

We were already full after finishing the chicken, but there was no skipping the fried rice. Adding dried seaweed flakes and flying fish roe to the leftover dakgalbi sauce made us pick up our spoons again.
The rice, spread wide across the pan, was evenly coated in sauce, spicy and savory in every spoonful. While eating the chicken the strong sauce flavor stood out most, but once mixed with the rice, the flavor of the seaweed flakes came through more clearly.
The little pops of flying fish roe throughout kept the texture interesting. There was even fun in scraping up the crispy rice stuck to the pan bit by bit — even saying we were full, my boyfriend and I ate every last bit.

At the time of our visit, a Naver review event was running too. Participating got you a free drink.

Final thoughts
When craving dakgalbi in Cheonan, it was great to enjoy a big pan-sized spread without having to travel all the way to Chuncheon. What stuck with me was the convenience of it arriving fully cooked, the generous chicken, and the variety of add-on combinations.
I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a filling Cheonan spot for a date or a Bulldang-dong restaurant to gather with a group. If you're planning a visit, timing it for the discount hours makes for a great Bulldang-dong lunch.
