Lately, whenever the weather's decent in the evening, I get this urge to sit outside and have a cool drink 🍶 This time I was hunting for a bar with good atmosphere near Nonhyeon Station, and ended up at Shunno Oden Nonhyeon.

There's no shortage of great restaurants and bars around Nonhyeon Station, but that day I wanted something lighter than meat or sashimi — warm oden and a glass of sake while chatting leisurely — so I picked this oden bar izakaya. Bottom line up front: it's a really great spot for a second round! There's a wide variety of oden to choose from, and with sake added the atmosphere really came together. If you like outdoor vibes, evening is the time to go.

Being so close to Nonhyeon Station makes it easy to stop by after work or meet friends here. What I liked most was that it stays open so late — great for a second round if dinner in Nonhyeon runs long, and equally good for just starting the night with a casual drink.
Picking your own oden: the four choices this visit
True to its name, Shunno Oden Nonhyeon is an oden-bar-style izakaya where you pick your own oden at the table. Just choosing what to order was already fun.
This time, out of everything, I picked white-whisker fish cake / cheese tsukuwa / suji / ssukgat

— that's what I went with. Ordering a few different kinds instead of just one meant each had its own distinct flavor, great for drinking snacks. Oden also comes with warm broth, so it's easy on the stomach while drinking, and a spoonful of broth here and there kept things feeling settled.
White-whisker fish cake, the most memorable pick
Of everything I ordered that day, my favorite was the white-whisker fish cake.

The moment you bite in, you get a mouthful of fresh fish flesh — quite different from a typical fish cake. The trick is to eat it like sashimi, with wasabi and soy sauce, rather than just dipping it in soy sauce alone.
With a dab of wasabi and a dip in soy sauce, the clean flavor of the fish came through even more. The fish cake itself was so clean-tasting it paired really well with sake.

Personally, I'd pick the white-whisker fish cake as my top choice from that day. If it's your first visit, I'd recommend ordering it.
Cheese tsukuwa: a perfect snack with a drink
Next up: cheese tsukuwa! With cheese inside, it had a savory, soft appeal all its own.

Eaten warm, the cheese's flavor rose gently with a salty edge, making it a great drinking snack. Going from the clean white-whisker fish cake to the cheese tsukuwa really highlighted the difference — I was glad I'd ordered a variety. It paired especially well with sake, the savory notes matching nicely.
Chewy suji and fragrant ssukgat
I also ordered suji (beef tendon).

Suji's appeal is its chewy texture. Eaten with the warm oden broth, it was perfect for slowly sipping drinks. And I ordered ssukgat (crown daisy) too, since I love it — once it goes into the oden broth, its distinct fragrance makes the broth taste even cleaner.

Between the oden, the suji, and the ssukgat, I kept reaching for the broth again and again. The combination of warm oden broth with that faint ssukgat aroma was really satisfying, personally.
Today's sake, served in a cup you choose yourself
Coming to an oden bar, you can't skip the sake! I ordered today's sake to go along with everything, and it was much tastier than expected — very satisfying.

The oden and sake pairing worked so well the drinks just kept going down haha. There was one thing about that day I especially liked: you get to pick your own sake cup! There are several kinds of cups, so you can choose one to your taste.

Beyond the taste of the sake itself, picking which cup to drink from was its own small joy. Pouring sake into a pretty cup and eating warm oden alongside it made for a great atmosphere. If you like sake, I think you'll enjoy this part too 🍶
What the open-air izakaya feels like near Nonhyeon Station
Another reason I really liked Shunno Oden Nonhyeon was the outdoor pojangmacha-style atmosphere. Visiting in the evening, it feels different from an indoor izakaya, in a good way. It's a comfortable place to chat with friends over drinks, and a fine, low-key spot for a date too.
If you're looking for a spot near Nonhyeon Station where you can drink while enjoying an outdoor atmosphere, it's worth a visit at least once. On a nice-weather day, oden and sake in this kind of setting can melt away the day's fatigue.
Why Shunno Oden works as a second-round bar in Gangnam
Personally, I thought Shunno Oden Nonhyeon works great as a second-round bar. After a filling first meal, it's perfect for when you want a few oden and a glass of sake to keep the conversation going, without anything too heavy.

You can pick your oden piece by piece and enjoy sake alongside it, which makes it easy to keep the mood going. It's good for meeting friends near Nonhyeon Station, and good for a drink somewhere with atmosphere after a date. And since it's open so late, there's no rush — you can take your time.
Final verdict on Shunno Oden Nonhyeon
That day at Shunno Oden Nonhyeon I ordered and enjoyed white-whisker fish cake, cheese tsukuwa, suji, ssukgat, and today's sake. Of all of them, the white-whisker fish cake stuck with me the most — eaten with wasabi and soy sauce, it had that clean, sashimi-like flavor I especially loved.
Today's sake was also excellent, and getting to pick my own sake cup was a fun little touch. If you're looking for a casual drink near Nonhyeon Station, or a good-atmosphere second-round bar after dinner, I'd recommend Shunno Oden Nonhyeon. If you like drinking outdoors, remember it as the outdoor izakaya near Nonhyeon Station.
Warm oden with a glass of sake 🍢🍶 — that combination really was the best!
