Oden izakaya in Gangnam: platter for two and highball at Shunno Oden
In short
Shunno Oden Nonhyeon is a handmade oden izakaya in an alley three minutes from Nonhyeon Station Exit 3 in Gangnam, Seoul. The oden moriawase platter for two (26,000 won) and a Jim Beam highball brought clear broth, soft white oden, cheese sausage and jin-gyeran (egg simmered in broth), and a Naver reservation meant no wait for a seat. With its tiny-Tokyo-oden-bar feel and an animal chopstick rest at every seat, Shunno Oden suits a date or a small group night out.

Where is Shunno Oden Nonhyeon, and what are its hours?
Shunno Oden Nonhyeon is at 3-8 Gangnam-daero 124-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea, ground floor, three minutes from Nonhyeon Station Exit 3. It's open daily from 16:00 to 02:00, with last order at 01:00.

Just 3 minutes from Nonhyeon Station Exit 3, this Nonhyeon Station restaurant and bar is barely any distance at all. Follow Naver Maps and the route isn't tricky — check the map before you head out! Even on a late evening as the cool autumn weather sets in, the outdoor tables were packed with people. Tucked in an alley, but still plenty crowded. Shunno Oden bills itself as a handmade oden shop carrying two generations of technique and seasonal flavor.

Outdoor tables or counter seats at Shunno Oden?
Shunno Oden Nonhyeon has plenty of outdoor tables plus counter seating, so it works for anything from a date to a small group gathering. Since I'd booked through Naver Reservation that day, I got seated right away with no wait.
The place feels cozy and cute. It's genuinely adorable — like stepping into a tiny oden bar in Tokyo. There's ample outdoor seating and tables can be pushed together, so I'd highly recommend it for a small work dinner too. The outdoor seats were so popular that day I couldn't get one — next time I'll go early! There's counter seating too, with all sorts of seating vibes, so maybe solo drinking works here as well?

A different animal chopstick rest at every seat
Adorable chopstick rests. No boring matching sets here — a different animal lies at each seat.

So cute. From the black cat to the cheese cat, the adorable chopstick rests caught my eye the moment I sat down. The place itself was already pretty cute and cozy, and then there's this level of detail! The dishware is adorable too — clearly a lot of care went into the interior.
Jim Beam highball and the oden platter for two, 26,000 won

At Shunno Oden Nonhyeon we ordered the oden moriawase for two (₩26,000) and a Jim Beam highball. My friend likes sweet drinks so she went sweet, and I ordered the highball. A cold Jim Beam highball, gulped down cool as the weather starts to turn crisp — pure happiness.

The tomato sitting in the middle is so cute haha. Ahh, that cold refreshing taste — not a heavy broth but a clear, clean one. My favorite oden was the white one, so soft it practically melts in your mouth. The cheese-stuffed sausage was savory and salty, right up my alley, and the oden studded with vegetables was nutty and delicious too.

The skewered oden was noticeably chewier and tastier than the street-stall kind. Alternating a sip of highball with a sip of oden broth — how can something be this good! With cool outside air drifting in too, breathing it in while eating genuinely felt like a trip to Japan.

It's not just salty broth — it's genuinely delicious going down. There's a good variety of oden too, so it's fun picking through them. I wanted to just lift the bowl and drink the broth straight down... but instead, spoonful after spoonful, I kept slurping it up.

Tongs, shichimi and mustard on the table
They give you tongs and chopsticks, so you can cut everything into easy bites yourself! Ordering for two, the portion was fairly generous. Dipping in shichimi pepper was great, and dipping in soy sauce with wasabi mixed in was delicious too. There was a dab of mustard stuck to the bowl — topping it with mustard was heavenly!

This tasty oden — especially the jin-gyeran, the egg that's soaked up the broth — has a rich, dense bite... ahem, and when the yolk gets stuck in your throat, a cold sip of highball washes it right down. They're known for good yaki-gyoza too, and I wanted to order some, but we'd already had a first round elsewhere so we skipped it. Next time, for sure, I'm ordering it.
