Yeonsan-dong chicken stew set after Sajik Stadium game: Yetnal Tongdak

In short

Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Yeonsan Main Branch is a long-running old-school fried chicken and dakdoritang (spicy chicken stew) restaurant in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonje-gu, Busan. The writer came late in the evening after a baseball game and the Night at Sajik event at Sajik Stadium and ordered the set, which brings whole fried chicken along with the stew; even the child who said it looked too spicy to eat dug in happily once the glass noodles arrived. Since Yetnal Tongdak & Tang stays open until 6am, it is an easy pick when a late game leaves you hungry.

Where to eat after a Sajik Stadium game: Yetnal Tongdak & Tang in Yeonsan-dong

Today's post is about the place that filled our hungry stomachs after a trip to Sajik Stadium in Busan! This is my visit story for Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Yeonsan Main Branch, a Yeonsan-dong restaurant known for its chicken. Yeonsan-dong is famous for having tons of good restaurants, and this is a legendary fried chicken and dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken stew) place that has survived it all!!

First off, the surprising thing is that they're open until super late — amazing! These days people don't really drink that late anymore, so staying open until 6am is basically a legendary move, right?!! Fried chicken is a given at the ballpark, but don't you also crave something spicy? That's why I visited this Yeonsan-dong spot that's both a fried chicken hotspot and a dakdoritang hotspot!

Night at Sajik light sticks, then a late-night craving

After the game ended, we watched the Night at Sajik event and a performance by singer Kim Min-seok, so of course we got hungry~ It really was a night at Sajik! The colorful glowing light sticks were absolutely fantastic!

The speaker volume was a bit low, which was a bummer, but honestly the crowd still put on quite a spectacle~

What comes in the dakdoritang, and first impressions (no parking)

Yeonsan-dong isn't that far from Sajik so we got there quickly~ Just so you know, there's no dedicated parking here~ First off, doesn't this visual totally pass the test?! There's a spicy, tangy broth underneath with a whole chicken in it~ Glass noodles are a must, and there are also rice cakes and quail eggs, so it's a really well-rounded and visually appealing dakdoritang. It's not just a place for fried chicken — I guess you could say they've got a menu that really pairs well together?!!

Basic side dishes of salad and radish

The salad and radish that come as basic sides! Ha~ isn't this exactly the feeling of a true old-school joint?!! Being a Yeonsan-dong favorite, there really were a lot of customers~ I couldn't believe how crowded it was even on a Sunday evening..

There were couples on dates and groups of guys too. Since we'd decided to sleep in Gwangalli after the game, we wanted to enjoy Busan's romantic late-night vibe as long as possible! And that's why we settled on this place — Yetnal Tongdak & Tang!

Crispy whole fried chicken that comes with the set

The whole fried chicken in the set, dipped in salt

This is the chicken that comes along when you order the set! Eating a properly crispy-fried whole chicken right away gives you that great texture!! Dip it in salt and it's basically love~

Is Yetnal Tongdak & Tang okay with kids? My son and the glass noodles

My kid said he wouldn't eat the dakdoritang because it looked too spicy! But once he tried it, he said it was totally delicious and dug in happily! Hahaha! He kept saying it was awesome with the glass noodles and ate so eagerly~ I don't think there'd be any problem bringing kids here at all.

The dakdoritang pot kept warm on low heat

Since the food comes already fully cooked, you just need to keep it warm on low heat while you eat. Of course a shot of soju would normally be a given here, but since we had to head to Gwangalli after this and our son was right there, drinking was a bit... The broth was so spicy and tangy that it really was the perfect dish for a shot of soju! Hahaha!

Rice cakes and quail eggs submerged in the broth

See that big, plump chicken thigh piece?? I can't forget this taste — I find myself craving this dakdoritang every single night! Hahaha!

A Yeonsan-dong old-timer: would I go back to Yetnal Tongdak & Tang?

Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Yeonsan Main Branch has been a true local institution in Yeonsan-dong for a long time, beloved for its impressively good dakdoritang! Yeonsan Main Branch! This place really delivers a flavor you can't forget.

Dakdoritang and whole fried chicken together on the table

Prices are affordable and the taste is excellent — why not give Yetnal Tongdak & Tang a visit sometime?!! That's the end of my Yeonsan-dong fried chicken restaurant post! Next time I go to Sajik Stadium in Busan, this is a place I'd definitely want to visit again!

By the way, Lotte, please play some good baseball.. what am I supposed to do if you lose every single day.. Forget about the fall postseason, at least give us some hope for next year! lol
