Songpa gopchang grill that swaps pans on a second order: Jinseong

In short

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Garak Flagship is a beef intestine grill house in Garak-dong, Songpa, Seoul that has been open since 2009. The order was hanwoo gopchang at 19,000 won for 220g and kkakdugi yangbap (radish kimchi rice) at 9,000 won, plus a second round of gopchang — and for the refill the staff brought a brand-new grill plate and re-grilled the vegetables too. Between the three house-made kimchis and the pickled minari garlic sauce, Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang stays easy to eat to the last bite and still counts as good value in Garak-dong.

A famous Garak-dong beef gopchang (beef small intestine) restaurant since 2009 — this is Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang.

Where is Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Garak Flagship, and where do you park?

Jinseong's Garak branch sits between Garak Market Station and Gyeongchal Byeongwon Station, so it was easy to reach by public transit 🧚 It's on the first floor of the building, so you'll spot it easily just walking along the street. If you're driving, you can use the building parking lot, and there's 2 hours of free parking support!

This is how you sign up for the waitlist. There was a storage box for pickled garlic and kimchi right outside the building. This place isn't just serious about gopchang — they're serious about kimchi and side dishes too...!

Here are the kimchi and side dishes...! I got kimchi-lit walking past this.

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang menu and prices

True to a restaurant that's serious about gopchang, the menu is on the compact side — which I actually prefer! That's the charm of a place that feels expert and delicious 💓 The signature items are hanwoo gopchang, hanwoo daechang (beef large intestine), and hanwoo makchang (beef abomasum), with kkakdugi yangbap and anchovy noodles as meal options.

This is a place that's serious about gopchang, so gopchang is an absolute must-order.

Pickled minari garlic sauce and three house-made kimchis

The first thing on the table was minari-pickled garlic sauce...! It's a sauce you can only get here. It goes so well with the meat, and honestly it's tasty with pretty much any vegetable you dip in it.

The kimchi is house-made, and they even sell the green onion kimchi separately. When you're craving home-cooked food, eating this kimchi... makes me think of my mom 🥰 I'd assumed the basic side dishes would be nothing special, but the house-made green onion kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, and chonggak kimchi each had their own distinct charm — really impressive.

The steamed egg comes complimentary. Free stuff is love 💚 It was so good I wanted to order more. The flavor was mild and comforting, not too strong, so it paired nicely with the kimchi too. The spread was so generous from the start that my expectations kept rising even before the main dish arrived.

How much food is 220g of hanwoo gopchang?

The gopchang comes out like this — 220g, so the portion is bigger than other places! The famous gopchang spot on Banghwa Meokja Alley only gives 200g, so this place is actually better value 🥹 Along with the gopchang, you can also grill potatoes, rice cakes, and vegetables, making for a varied spread. You wait for the timer, so you can eat right at the right moment without constantly worrying about the grilling time — very convenient.

They grill it for you, and — can you see the fat here...? Because the meat is fresh, the fat doesn't melt away or fall off, and it looks so delicious. Watching the gopchang sizzle and turn golden brown on the grill really got my appetite going.

Grilled beef gopchang with the fat still intact

The outside grilled up nice and appetizing, while the inside kept its fat intact instead of leaking out. The potatoes and rice cakes cooked in the gopchang fat too, picking up a savory flavor that made them a real treat.

Gopchang topped with garlic sauce and green onion kimchi

My favorite combination was gopchang with the garlic sauce. The salty, deeply savory sauce brought out the gopchang's rich flavor even more, and the garlic and fragrant vegetables cut through any greasiness cleanly.

Dip the gopchang in the sauce and pile on the green onion kimchi, and you get savory, tangy, and crunchy all at once — such a great match 💚 With so many types of kimchi, you're not stuck with just one way of eating; there were plenty of combinations to try. The green onion kimchi was fragrant and crunchy, while the mustard leaf and chonggak kimchi kept your palate refreshed. I never got tired of eating the gopchang, which made me think they'd put real care even into the basic side dishes. In the end, I couldn't help myself and ordered a whole extra plate of gopchang...!

Order a second round and the grill plate is swapped for a new one

This is what I really loved — when you order more, they clear the grill, put on a brand new plate, and re-grill the vegetables along with it too...! Where else does a restaurant put in this kind of effort 💚💚

Finishing with kkakdugi yangbap, 9,000 won

Kkakdugi yangbap (diced radish kimchi fried rice), meant to eat alongside the meat...! Carbs are the golden rule 💚💚 Loaded with egg, onion, kimchi, and shredded radish...💚

With crunchy kkakdugi, pickled garlic, and special-cut gopchang all mixed in, the dish had a tangy, spicy, yet savory appeal. Eating it after enjoying the rich flavor of the gopchang felt like a fresh palate reset. It pairs well eaten in turns with the gopchang too, so I'd recommend ordering it together in advance if you can. Next time I'd love to try the noodle side dish as well 💚

A late lunch, and the tables kept filling up

They promise to remake it if you're not satisfied — that's confidence...! Customers really kept coming in the whole time we ate 용, even though I went pretty early for an early dinner...! On top of that, the staff were clearly experienced — grilling the meat well and constantly checking our plate too. It genuinely felt like being at Haidilao. Super comfortable and satisfying.

Final verdict on Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang

From hanwoo gopchang generously packed with fat, to house-made kimchi, the savory garlic sauce, and kkakdugi yangbap — this was a satisfying meal all around. Above all, the gopchang paired so well with the side dishes that I could eat happily all the way to the end without getting tired of it.

If you're looking for fresh gopchang in Garak-dong, want to pair your meal with a variety of kimchi and a special sauce, or are after good-value beef gopchang at a reasonable price, give Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Garak Flagship a try. It was a solid Garak-dong gopchang restaurant for drinks with friends or a dinner gathering too.
