Goyang Korean restaurant for oyster seaweed soup: Haenon Miyeok

In short

Haenon Miyeok Ilsan Direct Branch is a Korean restaurant in Aenigol, Goyang, Gyeonggi, serving set meals centered on miyeokguk (seaweed soup). I tried beef, flounder, and oyster versions with neat side dishes, unlimited hijiki rice, and a self-service bar. Verdict: the oyster seaweed soup was my parents’ top pick.

Lately, I’ve been exhausted from looking at houses and then it suddenly got cold—exactly the moment I needed to recharge!!!!! That’s when I found Haenon Miyeok 💪🏻 I’m already a miyeokguk (seaweed soup) lover, so I liked this Aenigol spot in Ilsan even more~!

Haenon Miyeok at the entrance to Aenigol, with easy spacious parking

Haenon Miyeok is an original Korean restaurant for nourishing miyeokguk set meals, first started in Busan in 2015! First of all, it’s right at the entrance to Aenigol, so it was super easy to get to haha.

Spacious parking area at Haenon Miyeok

The parking area is seriously huge! It’s a large restaurant, so naturally there’s a large parking lot too—no worries, which I loved haha. Haenon Miyeok is an Aenigol restaurant in Ilsan I’d highly recommend for family meals, dates, and group gatherings: perfect parking and a spacious interior too 🤍

Upscale counter at Haenon Miyeok

This is the counter you see as soon as you walk in, and I honestly thought I’d arrived at some exhibition..? It’s insanely atmospheric and upscale.. Such a contrast with me shuffling in after my part-time job LOLLLLL.

Interior information at Haenon Miyeok

Of course, there are high chairs. It looked like pregnant guests and birthday celebrants get one whole abalone plopped into their seaweed soup. If it’s your birthday or you’re pregnant, definitely reserve ahead and get the benefit - 🖤

Spacious interior of Haenon Miyeok

The interior is really spacious. There aren’t any windows, and the restaurant’s highlights are explained with lighting along every wall. But it didn’t feel overwhelming; it had a clean yet upscale feel. Another distinctive thing was that there are no pillars inside..! They must have designed this building brilliantly..

Instructions for ordering through the table kiosk

How to order and use the self-service bar

You order through the kiosk attached to the table! It’s one order per person, and rice refills are unlimited 🫶🏻

Haenon Miyeok order notes

These are the order notes you really need to read! Allergies and things to be careful about are clearly listed. If you have allergies, check ahead!

Haenon Miyeok review event information

They also have a review event. Jeon (savory Korean pancake) wasn’t on the menu, so write a review and make sure you enjoy some jeon too 🫡

Side dishes at the Haenon Miyeok self-service bar

At the self-service bar, you can bring back more side dishes if the ones in your set meal aren’t enough! There are other side dishes besides those served with the set, so definitely take a look and grab what you want -!

Neat and lovely set-meal side dishes

The side dishes were so neatly presented and pretty,, sesame salad, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and even seasoned flounder!! Since it’s a Korean set meal with seaweed soup as the main dish, the side dishes weren’t heavily seasoned, which made everything go well together and left me satisfied~

Seasoned scallops and six basic side dishes

The basic sides were seasoned scallops, fresh kimchi, chilled chicken-breast salad, sweet-and-sour eggplant, seasoned zucchini, and seasoned shredded seaweed. They were all clean-tasting and wonderfully savory. There were six kinds too, so I thought it was such a generous spread ><

Braised tofu and seasoned chili cucumber

Braised tofu and seasoned chili cucumber from the self-service bar! The braised tofu wasn’t too salty, with a little spice and sweetness~ And the seasoned chili cucumber goes so well with seaweed soup..💛

Beef seaweed soup and side dishes

The seaweed soups I tried, from beef to oyster

I ordered the beef seaweed soup. It had been ages since I’d had it, and it was full of that rich meaty aroma.. Haenon Miyeok’s key point is its deep beef-bone-broth base, yet it still felt like a clear, light broth, which I loved..!

With one menu order per person, you can add unlimited bowls of rice! The rice is hijiki rice,, and even if it looks like a small portion, it’s truly just right with the seaweed soup. The rice was so good that I ended up ordering two bowls.

There wasn’t just a little beef in it—it was packed full. They should rename it from beef seaweed soup to seaweed soup loaded with beef. Even though it’s beef seaweed soup, it wasn’t greasy at all and was wonderfully light!

Seaweed soup packed with beef

This one is flounder seaweed soup! Just hearing it, you might think, flounder? Wouldn’t that be really fishy? But flounder seaweed soup was my top pick.. The flounder flesh was so plump and nutty, and having fish in it takes the savory flavor to the max.. ㅜㅜ Such delicious flounder.. ♥️

My parents’ top pick: oyster seaweed soup

My parents’ top pick! The oyster seaweed soup had so many oysters that it truly felt like a restorative meal, and from the first bite I could feel my stomach warming up while my body felt refreshed. The oyster-based broth was rich, savory, and wonderfully clean. I highly recommend the oyster seaweed soup for older diners!!

Haenon Miyeok apparently has its main branch in Busan. I love seaweed soup so much, and I’m so happy there’s one this close >< I recommend Haenon Miyeok, an Aenigol restaurant in Ilsan that seems perfect whether you come with older family members or for a family gathering!
