We arrived in front of Sonsi Sushi Yeungnam University Main Branch.

There was a separate bench for waiting, and on especially sunny days they even provide parasols for people in line. You could really feel the owner’s consideration for customers.

Before waiting, enter your phone number in Catchtable, then wait until your number is called.
Inside, there were seats for one, two, and four people, so it seemed great whether dining alone or with family. I also liked that information about Sonsi Sushi was displayed along the walls.
We sat at a two-person table, with paper cups and cutlery right beside us. Aprons, toothpicks, hand cream, single-use mouthwash, fans, hair ties, candy, and more were also available—another thoughtful touch from the owner.
Kiosk menu and ordering

The menu is on the kiosk, so just look through it and place your order.

There were so many options—set menus, assorted sushi, individual sushi, rolls, rice, noodles, fried dishes, children’s items, drinks, and alcohol—that choosing was fun.

You can also order side dishes through the kiosk before asking for them, so keep that in mind.

11-Year Sushi Aged Specialty Premium 12

First out was the 11-Year Sushi Aged Specialty Premium, one of Sonsi Sushi Yeungnam University Main Branch’s signature menus!

This upgraded 10-piece set deepens the flavor with bluefin tuna akami, wet-aged large flounder, and kombujime salmon cured with kelp. The soy sauce is said to be the country’s first low-sodium jujube sushi soy sauce, a low-sodium aged sauce made with Gyeongsan’s specialty jujubes.
Starting with sushi, the set came with salad, rakkyo (pickled scallions), and more, so there was really a lot of variety.

The variety was amazing and the spread was so generous. My friend who ordered the 11-Year Sushi Aged Specialty Premium 12 raved that it was really delicious.
11-Year Sushi Aged Specialty Supreme 12

This is the 11-Year Sushi Aged Specialty Supreme 12, another signature menu at Sonsi Sushi Yeungnam University Main Branch.

Sonsi Sushi’s signature menu lets you experience three aging techniques—kombujime, wet aging, and fire-aroma aging—on one table! I’m going to pour on the country’s first low-sodium jujube sushi soy sauce and dig in.
The sushi selection was so substantial. If you want more udon, I recommend adding ₩1,000 for large udon like I did; you get a bowl this big.
This food looked so appetizing—now it was time for a bite. I recommend taking a moment to enjoy the video of the 11-Year Sushi Aged Specialty Supreme 12.

After one bite, the sushi was really delicious.
From the moment the rich aroma of salmon came through my nose with the kombujime, wet-aged, and fire-aroma-aged preparations, I could only keep saying how delicious it was. The fish was excellent, and I loved that extra wasabi was available for customers who wanted more.
Every piece of sushi in the photos suited my taste. Everything from the salmon to the egg sushi was so good.
Ankimo futomaki pairing
I’m going to take a bite of the ankimo futomaki, topped with monkfish liver.
After one bite, the rich flavor of the monkfish liver suited my palate, and the futomaki was especially delicious too.
I really loved the combination of monkfish liver and futomaki. There is a video of the ankimo futomaki, so I recommend watching it.
Empty-plate proof

Whenever I visit a delicious place, there’s something I always do in return: empty-plate proof! From the sushi to the salad, rakkyo, udon, soy sauce, and wasabi, everything was right up my alley, and the sushi was truly delicious.
