Suwon hair salon layered cut with grown-out bangs: Uaroom
In short
Uaroom is a hair salon in Maetan-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi. After consulting with Designer Soyi, I trimmed about 5 cm from my long hair, lightened the heavy ends with layers, and blended my growing-out bangs into my face-framing hair. Verdict: a natural layered cut that kept the length I had worked hard to grow.

My hair has gotten pretty long lately, so it was looking heavy and a little stuffy overall, and I wanted to visit a salon. I did not want to cut off much length, but leaving it as it was meant it just hung limp even after using my Dyson—so off I went to Uaroom, a hair salon in Maetan-dong!

This time I got a layered cut from Designer Soyi, and I was happy because she captured exactly the feel I wanted : ) The mood of a layered cut can change quite a bit depending on how the layers are placed, so I loved that she was thorough from the consultation through the cut.
Visiting Uaroom near Maetangwonseon Station

Uaroom is in Maetan-dong, and it is within easy walking distance of Maetangwonseon Station, which was nice. I made a reservation before visiting!

When I stepped inside, the salon had an overall clean, relaxing atmosphere. Hair appointments can take longer than expected, but the space was pleasant, so it seemed like an easy place to stay without feeling burdened.

Consultation and request for a long-hair layered cut
Because it was my first visit, my biggest worry was whether I would get across the style I wanted properly. But Designer Soyi asked carefully about the look I wanted before cutting, which put me at ease! I was especially concerned because I am growing out bangs for the first time, and the hair at the front was falling at an awkward length. Rather than simply adding layers all over, I wanted the lines around my face shaped nicely!

Before the cut, my hair was long overall and felt weighty, so it looked like it was hanging straight down. Still, I did not want to chop off the length, so I asked to take off about 5 cm and make the ends lighter with a layered cut.

She said my ends looked quite damaged and asked whether it was because I had dyed it, but this is my natural hair color!!! The older I get, the more my hair seems to turn a lighter brown... or is that just the vibe?

The result: less weight and natural layers
The layered cut is finished~! She gave it a lovely blow-dry too. The overall silhouette felt so much lighter, and I absolutely loved how naturally the layers fell. I like the light, feminine feel unique to a layered cut, and it feels like styling with my Dyson every morning works much better and holds longer when I have layers!

If you have long hair and just grow it out without doing anything, it can end up looking a bit stifling, like those Cheonghak-dong kids. Add layers, though, and it looks so much more lively..!

Blending my growing-out bangs into the side hair
Also, my growing-out bangs (which have now become side hair?) felt a little sparse, but Designer Soyi added more fullness and made them connect beautifully. She shaped everything nicely along my face line!

At first, I thought I was simply going in to tidy up my grown-out hair, but I was happy that I could address not only the overall layers but also the bangs and side hair that had been bothering me. Above all, when I told Designer Soyi what I wanted, she understood right away and tailored it to suit the style, so the whole appointment felt comfortable.
Since a layered cut can feel different depending on the height of the layers and the cut around the face, I recommend explaining in detail what usually bothers you and the style you want during the first consultation!
A layered cut that works worn down or tied up
This time, rather than making a major style change, my goal was to keep my current length while tidying up the overall line, and I loved the result. My favorite part of this cut was especially around my face! Instead of cutting off the bangs I had worked so hard to grow, she blended them naturally into the side hair and increased the amount of hair falling beside my face, bringing me closer to the look I wanted.

When I wear my hair down, the layers come alive naturally, and when I tie it up, I can pull out a little of the side hair to style it, so I think it will be useful for everyday wear too. If you are looking for somewhere in Maetan-dong for a layered cut, or you are growing out your bangs and unsure how to shape them, it could be worth having a consultation at Uaroom. I saw Designer Soyi this time, and I was happy with how thoughtfully she reflected what I wanted :) It feels like all the effort of growing out my bangs has finally paid off, so I plan to keep this style for a while!
