Gangnam hair salon repair perm for frizzy hair: Park Jun Beauty Lab

My hair is fine and damaged, and the hippie perm I had before became harder and harder to manage as time went on. At some point, the frizz started to stand out even more. But straightening it with a flat iron every day also seemed like it would be hard on damaged hair.

After thinking it over, I decided to try the Re-born magic setting perm at Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch. I wanted the overall look to be smooth and tidy, while keeping a natural curl at the ends.

With damaged hair, what I considered before a pretty curl

I booked the opening slot, put my things in a locker, and started my one-on-one consultation with a warm welcome tea! My hair is fine, and years of regular hippie perms have left it quite damaged. They were thorough, focused on the explanations I needed, and skipped unnecessary small talk—so satisfying!!! It was a very comfortable appointment.

I explained that I wanted a Re-born magic setting perm with a layered C-curl style. With damaged hair, it is important not to choose a perm based only on an inspiration photo, but to consult about what is possible with your hair's current condition before starting.

Because I have a long history of hippie perms and fine hair, we went in the direction of tidying the frizzy areas while creating C-curls, rather than simply making the curl strong.

They also put a lot of effort into my layered cut. I had no idea the two sides were different lengths because I had been wearing my hippie-permed hair tied up;; I only realized after they dried it... So it had been like this all along, haha.

Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch also offers hair spas and scalp clinics. The shampoo room and the whole salon were clean, and I noticed the staff constantly tidying up to keep everything that way. When I visited, international customers were getting hair spa treatments too. I wondered if those care services are why foreigners seek it out around Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon.

Why does a magic setting perm take so long?

Because the process includes applying solutions, heat treatment, and checking the hair's condition to prevent damage, it can take longer than a simple regular perm. That is why a repair perm needs even more care and continual checking of the hair's condition!

They also prepared snacks while I waited, so I happily had an iced Americano, sugar-boosting candies, and cookies. They even wrote a cute message on the cup sleeve.

Make the C-curl a little stronger

After the heat treatment and magic straightening work, I had a final shampoo and styling. From the beginning, I asked them to make the C-curl a little stronger, because my C-curls had tended to loosen quickly in the past.

When it was finished, the designer said, “The curl came out fairly strong,” but I actually loved it. I was thinking it would naturally loosen little by little over time anyway! Still, results can vary depending on hair thickness, damage level, and previous perm or color history, so if you have damaged hair, I think it is best to fully discuss your current hair condition first.

There is a special service here: a free Life Four Cuts photo session for every customer! They gave my blowout loads of volume, so it was perfect for taking a great photo. By the end of the appointment, though, after sitting there and eating snacks, most of my makeup was gone and I was basically bare-faced—but I couldn't not take one, haha.

I am so hopeless at doing my own hair that I do wonder whether I can recreate this look myself, but being able to leave with photos taken at the moment it was styled so beautifully felt like a very thoughtful service. In my experience, what mattered was not simply making the curls pretty, but working with the designer to decide, based on the current level of damage, how much to smooth with the magic treatment and how strong to make the C-curls! I am very happy with my calm medium-length C-curl look.
