Suwon hair salon cut for self-dyed hair: Uaroom

Last semester was so busy and difficult that, even before the new semester started, I was already feeling a little down about leaving my family home 😢 I wanted a change of pace—and I’d kept my hair long for so long, so I wanted to change up my look too. While looking for a hair salon, I found Uaroom (우아룸) and decided to visit :) I’d dyed my hair at home several times, so its condition wasn’t great, and I’d even covered it in black dye, which had me worried. But the booking page showed that there were many skilled designers specializing in different areas, so I could go in feeling much less nervous!

I find parking harder than driving, so I took the bus because I thought it might be a hassle. But there seemed to be more than enough spacious spots, so parking would probably be easy. (If I’d known, I would have driven 😅) I got a little lost because the sign in the photo isn’t visible from behind the building, but the black-and-white sign against the brown-brick building definitely looked sophisticated. It had all three moods—Antique, Cozy, and Sophistication—so I was already full of anticipation before my appointment!

When you enter, the large hall is divided into sections. There’s a long table with mirrors and chairs in the center, and the shampoo, cut, and treatment areas are clearly separated, so the whole space looked clean and neat.

Book a designer for the style you want

Uaroom has five designers in total, and I had my appointment with one of them. I loved that the booking page introduces each designer and their signature services, so I could look through everything carefully and book the designer who suited the style I wanted!

Consultation and results for a cut on at-home-dyed hair

(I’m a little shy because these are photos of me... 🫣) The appointment took about an hour for the shampoo and cut. Originally, I wanted to come back for color after the cut too, but the designer advised against coloring it right away because of the at-home dyeing, so I’ll save that for next time.

I was impressed by how they considered everything, from the purpose of the service to my satisfaction, and I was so grateful that they answered even my little questions so thoroughly. Some other salons have told me to just go ahead with color for the sales, but this felt like a place that values customers’ feelings and trust over sales, which made me even happier 🤭

If you want a change of image

Looking back on my appointment at Uaroom, it was unquestionably a 10 out of 10. From being able to look over and book each skilled, experienced designer to the feeling of being looked after from the moment I entered until I left, everything was wonderful. Above all, their honesty in valuing customers’ trust over sales really stood out.

I don’t get my hair trimmed much in Pohang, so I usually go to a salon when I’m at my family home—and I’m 100% willing to return. Next time, maybe I’ll get a cut + color too? 😝
