Noeun-dong, Daejeon pork cutlet restaurant for couples: Gatjidong

The weather has been sooo nice lately 😊 The sky's pretty and cool, summer's basically bye-bye now 👋 The older I get, the more each season change worries me a little haha... and every time that happens, I cheer myself up by eating something delicious 🙋‍♀️

That intro got way too long haha. So where did I go today? Gatjidong Noeun Branch, a restaurant near Daejeon World Cup Stadium :) They say the name Gatjidong (갓지동) means a freshly-made, delicious meal. Alright, let's eat well again today 😆

Here's the interior of Gatjidong Noeun Branch, near Daejeon World Cup Stadium :) It's really clean and spacious inside, and it's fine for eating alone too. They have baby chairs and baby dishware, so it looks great for bringing a little one along. When I visited, every single table was a couple though — good thing I didn't come alone or I'd have felt lonely?? haha 😆

What's at the self-bar?

Kimchi, pickled radish, broth, and old-style Western soup are all self-serve :) You can also grab extra rice from the self-bar if you need it. When we visited, the soup had already run out... I love soup, so I was pretty bummed it wasn't there 😆

Signature half-and-half pork cutlet: the cheese really stretches

This is the cheese cutlet that comes with Gatjidong's signature half-and-half pork cutlet, near Daejeon National Cemetery. This cheese is seriously stretchy haha, look at it pull 👍 You've got to eat it first, before the cheese cools down... soft, savory cheese that just keeps stretching 🤍 Highly recommend the cheese cutlet at Gatjidong 👍 The half-and-half lets you enjoy both cheese cutlet and regular cutlet at once! A must-order for pork cutlet lovers ✅

Western-style pork cutlet, 10,900 won, with furikake rice

Next up is Gatjidong Noeun Branch's Western-style pork cutlet — soft, moist cutlet soaked in sauce! Honestly never fails... I really, really love pork cutlet 💛 haha. Thin batter, thick meat!! Not dry at all, no weird smell, just plain good 👍 The sauce pairs so well with it 😋 Even the rice that comes with it is great — the salty furikake sprinkled on top goes so well with the rice, so tasty haha.

Cold buckwheat soba: almost a double portion

Last up, the buckwheat soba 💛 Maybe because it was cool outside, eating cold soba in the blasting AC actually made me chilly... this might be my last soba of the summer haha. The portion was so generous it felt like a double serving... I drank all the soba broth endlessly haha, and it goes so well with pork cutlet... sooo good 👍👍

Good for a family meal out or a workday lunch in Noeun-dong

Gatjidong!! I'd recommend it as a family dining spot 👍 Food comes out really fast too, so it'd make a great lunch spot for office workers :) Had another delicious meal today at Gatjidong Noeun Branch, near Daejeon World Cup Stadium :) 💛
