Monday evening steak at Omil Seongsu, a Seongsu pasta restaurant

After playing all day with my daughter in Seongsu, she suddenly said she wanted pasta, so we headed to Omil Seongsu~ It's famous as a Seongsu pasta spot so I braced myself for a wait, but... it was Monday early evening so we walked straight in with no wait! Both of us went "yesss!" in that instant. 😂

And the moment she saw the menu, the rubber duck omurice completely stole my daughter's heart. We went there for pasta and the plan changed in an instant~ Today I'll give you an honest review of what we ate at Omil Seongsu, the vibe, and the wait.

Where is Omil Seongsu, and how long is the wait and parking?

Omil Seongsu, tucked in a Seongsu alley, is a well-known pasta spot so there's usually a wait. I'd recommend an opening run or a reservation.

What is on the menu at Omil Seongsu?

Looking at the menu, there were so many types of pasta plus steak and omurice that it was hard to decide. When you order, you ring a little bell and a staff member comes over — what is this detail... isn't it too cute? 😊

What caught my eye was the gochujang (Korean chili paste) butter pasta. I'd seen it so often in Seongsu pasta reviews that I really wanted to try it... but this time it lost out to my daughter's preference, so I'm saving it for next time. I'm definitely ordering it on my next visit.

Rubber duck omurice: the dish my daughter fell for at first sight

Order the rubber duck omurice and you get a rubber duck toy to take home too. A detail kids can't help but love~

How did the omurice taste? The curry was mild, not overpowering. The soft, jiggly egg was really moist. The fried rice wasn't too salty either, easy for a kid to eat.

Omil Steak: a sous-vide flat iron that refuelled me in Seongsu

After walking around Seongsu all day, my energy was totally drained, so I went straight for the steak haha.

The Omil Steak is apparently their signature main dish — a sous-vide, tender-cooked flat iron steak with a rich red wine sauce. Doesn't it look moist?

Once I tasted it, the meat was really tender and moist. The red wine sauce was rich but not overwhelming. Paired with the grilled tomato and shishito peppers, the combination was great.

And above all... the fries were genuinely delicious. Fries topped with cheese and bacon, perfect alongside the steak~ Honestly this dish made me really crave a glass of wine haha.

After walking all over Seongsu all day, I recharged with the steak. 😂

Atmosphere and table spacing at Omil Seongsu

The food at Omil Seongsu was great, but the atmosphere was really nice too. What I liked was that the table spacing was wide, so I didn't have to worry about the conversation at the next table, and the bright, cozy interior made it easy to talk for a long time.

I'll definitely go back to try it next time. It was a great pasta restaurant for going with a kid in Seongsu, and just as good for a date. Next time, even if I have to wait, I'm coming back for the gochujang butter pasta.
