Why get a lash lift in mid-pregnancy?

Once you're pregnant, even the small treatments you used to get without a second thought suddenly become something you overthink.

Lately I've barely been wearing makeup, and my face was starting to look kind of flat and dull, so I wanted a lash lift — but I was worried it might irritate my eyes and, in turn, affect the baby.

Now that I'm in my second trimester, I figured it was time for a change from my plain, bare-faced look these days. So I booked a lash lift, thinking: please turn out natural and pretty... be a little light for this makeup-free face of mine...

What kind of lash salon is Iyo Shop in Gongdeok-dong?

The place I visited was Iyo Shop, a lash specialty salon in Gongdeok-dong. The salon looked clean and had great reviews, so I worked up the nerve to book.

It's run by a single head stylist, and it's located right by the Tower Palace commercial building in front of Gongdeok-dong — and the reviews really were great, haha.

I booked the weekday 11am slot and headed over.

Weekday morning at Iyo Shop: atmosphere and how long it takes

Visiting Iyo Shop on a weekday morning, the interior was very quiet and pleasant, so I could relax through the treatment. For a pregnant person, lying down for a long time can really strain your back — but the owner's hands were so fast, hahaha, it was done in under 50 minutes!

I also loved that there were so many mirror stations! >_<

Why choose the nutrition care and black tint course?

This time I got a regular lash lift plus added nutrition care and black tinting. Using perming solution alone can damage or dry out lashes, so I felt the nutrition step was essential to keep them healthy.

Adding black tint on top meant my lashes would look much more defined without mascara — I had high hopes.

Between taking care of the baby I've been slapping on skin and lotion in like two seconds lolllll, hair thrown up in a bun, living the mom life lolllllll, looking exhausted today too T_T

The lash lift step by step, with no stinging eyes

Once the treatment started, what surprised me most was how the Iyo Shop owner's hands moved. Way faster than I expected. Her touch was precise and deft, yet she was careful never to irritate my eyes.

You know the feeling, right...? Going somewhere that's not great at lashes and ending up with tears streaming, eyes stinging? Here, none of that — the owner's hands are truly gifted and quick!

Because she worked so fast, lying there with my eyes closed never felt boring or tiring, and everything wrapped up quickly without putting strain on my body. For a pregnant person, not having the treatment drag on was a genuinely huge plus.

The result: a root-lifted curl with mascara-like definition

After the treatment, I checked the mirror and the result was more satisfying than I'd expected — hoho, I was in such a good mood.

The curl lifted beautifully right from the root, making my eyes look so much more open! And thanks to the black tint, each lash came out dark and defined, giving the clear impact of heavily applied mascara, haha.

Maybe because of the nutrition care too, my lashes felt plump and glossy with zero sense of damage. I'd been debating whether to just get the regular lift, but I'm so glad I added the extras. BEFORE & AFTER

Ooh! I've got so much more confidence going bare-faced now.

These days I go out without makeup a lot, and just this one lash lift makes my whole face look so much livelier and my eyes more defined — every time I catch my reflection, I'm in a great mood.
