Songpa pub with DIY flounder gimbap and butter chicken: Daegang
In short
Daegang is an open-air style pub and restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, on a side street off Baekjegobun-ro 41-gil, a 10-minute walk from Seokchon, Songpanaru, and Jamsil stations. On a weekday evening the writer and a friend ordered flounder sesame-oil gimbap (seaweed rice roll) for 18,000 won, grilled chicken for 11,000 won, griddle corn cheese for 7,000 won, and sushi rice for 2,000 won, with a bottle of Gyeongju Beopju rice wine at 4,500 won. Isn't the weather lately just so cool and perfect for sitting on a terrace enjoying the breeze? 🍂 I went with a friend on a weekday evening to 'Daegang,' a spot that's been hot lately around Songpa and Seokchon for its outdoor-terrace vibe! Let me share how good the mood was, from the weather down to the atmosphere.

Where is Daegang and how do you get there?
Daegang is on the 1st floor of 42-8 Baekjegobun-ro 41-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea — the 2nd shop on the left. It's 655m from Seokchon Station Exit 1, and a 10-minute walk from Jamsil, Seokchon, or Songpanaru stations by public transit.

Daegang's open-air seating on a cool Seoul evening
🌙 Daegang's biggest charm is, without a doubt, its atmosphere — a perfect match for this kind of weather. I visited on a weekday evening, and the outdoor-terrace-style space stretching out in front of the shop immediately caught my eye.
With the cool, crisp breeze blowing morning and night these days, this was truly the best place for an outdoor-vibe drink. If you love this kind of outdoor-terrace mood, your heart starts pounding before you even walk in.
Amid the bustling alleys of Songpa, I could fully enjoy a relaxed yet hip atmosphere — just sitting there felt healing.
What we ordered at Daegang and what it cost
My friend and I deliberately picked out the menu items that looked most delicious. There were a lot of unique, appealing dishes reminiscent of combinations from famous shows or chefs, which made choosing genuinely fun. Here's what we picked:
- Flounder sesame-oil gimbap ₩18,000
- Grilled chicken ₩11,000
- Griddle corn cheese ₩7,000
- Sushi rice ₩2,000
- Gyeongju beopju ₩4,500

Flounder sesame-oil gimbap (seaweed rice roll), 18,000 won: roll it yourself
Daegang's flounder sesame-oil gimbap is ₩18,000, a self-assembled gimbap you roll yourself. It came described as "a mix of Kang Min-kyung's flounder gimbap and Yoon Nam-no's sesame-oil combo (self-assembled gimbap)," which built up a lot of expectation right away.
Fresh flounder sashimi paired with sesame oil, the ultimate in nuttiness — how could that combo not be delicious? Since it's a self-assembled roll-it-yourself format, it was fun too, and the chewy flounder against the nutty sesame-oil flavor spreading through my mouth was fantastic. It also worked great as a light bite to go with drinks.

Pair this with a glass of Gyeongju beopju and — ahh~~

It paired perfectly and cleanly with both the rich, savory grilled chicken and the fresh flounder gimbap.

Grilled chicken, 11,000 won: butter-seared chicken thigh
The grilled chicken is ₩11,000 — plump chicken thigh meat grilled crispy with butter on top. The outside was crispy and the inside juicy, with the buttery flavor soaked all the way through, which was genuinely amazing.
Dipped into the accompanying cheongyang chili soy sauce, the richness of the butter was cut right through and a spicy, salty flavor wrapped around my mouth — a menu item that kept pulling my hand back for more. At ₩11,000, the value was also excellent.

Griddle corn cheese, 7,000 won, and sushi rice, 2,000 won
The griddle corn cheese is ₩7,000 — a sweet-savory, raw-fish-restaurant-style griddle corn cheese that's basically addictive. Corn cheese bubbling away on the griddle is a national go-to side dish that never fails.
The pop of the corn kernels against the stretchy melted cheese — need I say more? Scooping it out spoonful by spoonful along the way was genuinely fun.

We also ordered the tasty sushi rice as an extra — a great cheat-code side to eat alongside the flounder sesame-oil gimbap or the other dishes.
Is Daegang worth it for a weekday evening drink outdoors?
💡 If you're looking for a bar with a good atmosphere near Jamsil, Seokchon, or Songpanaru stations, especially if you want to soak in outdoor vibes in this cool weather, Daegang will absolutely not disappoint.
Spending a refreshing time with delicious side dishes in a hip atmosphere really washed away the fatigue of a weekday evening. If you want to make delicious memories in a great-atmosphere spot with a friend or a partner, definitely pay a visit. My would-return intent is 200%! ✨
