Gangnam izakaya with oden broths, mul-tteok and patbingsu: Odeng Osaek
In short
Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch is an oden bar-style izakaya between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul. We ordered the broths in different flavours and added oden (fish cakes) to taste, and the mul-tteok (rice cake on a skewer, dipped in broth) was the standout, along with draft beer and the patbingsu (shaved ice with red bean) my friend picked. Odeng Osaek suits a light second round after dinner.

You know those days in Gangnam when you've had dinner but it feels too early to just go home? My belly was decently full, but I wanted somewhere to sit, chat, and have a light drink — that's how I ended up at Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch!
It's in a convenient spot between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, great for meeting up, and the atmosphere — warm oden with a drink — made it a solid pick for a second round. It's the kind of place that comes to mind when you want a drink with snacks that aren't too heavy, right in the middle of buzzing Gangnam, so let me introduce it :)
Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch: oden and a drink in Gangnam
This time I visited Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch. I'm a fan of that particular oden bar atmosphere, and as the weather cools down bit by bit these days, warm broth dishes are calling to me more.
Gangnam has tons of bars, but honestly it's always a bit of a struggle deciding where to go. Odeng Osaek's menu isn't intimidating at all, so it seemed like a good fit whether you're starting your night there or dropping in for round two.

Walking inside, it's got that izakaya feeling through and through! It works well for a low-key drink with a friend, or even a date with a partner.
It has a different kind of charm than a bustling barbecue joint or a street tent bar packed with groups, so if you're looking for a Gangnam Station izakaya, it's worth a visit.

An oden pot at every table, and seats with an outdoor view
Every table has its own pot for holding oden — okay, this confirms it's a proper oden specialist!

There are also seats with an outdoor view, which seems perfect for this kind of yajang (outdoor drinking) weather these days.

They gave us a basic side dish to start — nice touch >_<

Choosing your own oden and drinking snacks at Odeng Osaek
Looking at the Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch menu, of course the oden catches your eye first! It's not just one kind — you can pick according to taste, so it was great ordering a variety and sharing.
Oden is something I eat pretty casually most of the time, but eating it here with warm broth at a bar felt totally different.

The broth being warm especially hit the spot — a sip after a drink and it felt like everything settled, haha. Each type of oden had a slightly different texture and flavor, so it was fun picking through them one by one. Ordering several kinds and finding your own favorite seems like a good move.

Taste matters for drinking snacks, but so does whether they're good for slow, steady eating while you drink. I liked that oden stays warm the whole time with its broth. It wasn't too filling but paired well with the drinks, so we naturally ended up chatting and sitting for a long time.
So personally, I think this would suit people looking for a Sinnonhyeon Station bar or a Gangnam second-round spot after dinner. The draft beer was really good too!!!

Mul-tteok in a broth of its own, then patbingsu
We ordered different broths separately and added oden to taste — the mul-tteok (fish cake-wrapped rice cake) was especially good, haha.

My friend's pick, patbingsu (shaved ice dessert), was totally delicious too, haha. Why does dessert tempt you so much in a place like this? ^^

Is Odeng Osaek good for a Gangnam date or a second round?
When looking for a bar in Gangnam, atmosphere matters as much as the food, and I liked how easygoing Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch felt. Not too formal, but not chaotically loud either — good for talking with a friend.
It'd be a good spot to visit if you want to talk a bit more after a blind date, or want a light drink during a date.

If you're meeting up around Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, the location is quite convenient for a group to gather. Especially with the evenings getting cooler these days, the combination of warm broth and a drink is just right.
If you've always gone for heavy snacks like barbecue or fried chicken in Gangnam, an oden bar-style izakaya like this could be a refreshing alternative.

Overall, Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch nailed the combination of warm broth + variety of oden + a drink + relaxed atmosphere! Good for a second round after dinner, or for a day when you want a drink with snacks that aren't too heavy from the start. If you're looking for an izakaya near Gangnam Station or a bar around Sinnonhyeon Station, keep Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch in mind :)
