In short

Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch is an izakaya between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul, where you sit down and pick your own odeng (fish cake skewers). The couple set in spicy flavor costs ₩37,000, the handmade chicken nanban plus two glasses of Suntory draft beer costs ₩34,500, and the tomato brûlée is ₩9,000 — the kkobuli (curly) odeng was the standout. Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch, a bar near Sinnonhyeon Station — the fun of picking your own odeng (fish cake skewers) plus genuinely tasty drinking snacks.

I stopped by Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch for a light drink near Sinnonhyeon Station. The moment I walked in, it felt a bit different from a typical odeng bar.

Interior atmosphere of Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch

Instead of standing to eat odeng, you sit comfortably and pick what you want — a style that turned out to be more refreshing and fun than I expected. The vibe was great for a light drink, and honestly, the snacks we had that day were really good.

It's a good spot if you're looking for a bar between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. The place is on the ground floor, so it wasn't hard to find once I had the address.

A sit-down, pick-your-own odeng bar — what's different?

This was my favorite part of Odeng Osaek. Most odeng bars have you standing or serve a fixed set, but here you sit down comfortably and choose your own odeng.

Picking each piece of odeng I wanted turned out to be surprisingly fun. It was also nice for chatting slowly over drinks, and I liked the atmosphere overall.

Odeng recommendation: kkobuli

With so many types of odeng, it can be hard to decide what to order — but if I had to recommend one based on my taste, it's the kkobuli (curly) odeng. Out of everything, kkobuli was the tastiest to me.

The tastiest kkobuli (curly) odeng

Rather than ordering a random assortment on your first visit, I'd suggest trying kkobuli first. If you like a chewy texture, this one will suit you even more.

The ₩37,000 couple set

We also ordered the couple set. It costs ₩37,000, and we chose the spicy flavor. The set included perilla leaf and cheese, negi takoyaki, oi tangtangi (smashed cucumber), and more. The spicy version paired well with drinks, and since it comes with a little of everything, it worked out great for two people.

Oi tangtangi to lighten things up in between

Oi tangtangi (smashed cucumber) included in the couple set

The oi tangtangi (smashed cucumber) was nice to eat lightly between bites of odeng or other snacks.

Oi tangtangi served alongside other snacks

If you only eat heavy dishes the whole time, your palate can get a bit tired — but eating cucumber alongside it felt refreshing and cleansing. It was also easy to pick up without any pressure while drinking.

Handmade chicken nanban and 2 Suntory draft beers for ₩34,500

We didn't stop at odeng — there's also a set with handmade chicken nanban and two glasses of Suntory draft beer.

Priced at ₩34,500. Going from odeng to chicken nanban to a cold glass of Suntory draft made for a great combo. If just odeng feels like it's not enough, this is worth adding.

Tomato brûlée, ₩9,000

The tomato brûlée was ₩9,000.

It's such a different dish from the usual odeng or chicken drinking snacks that it was nice to have as a change of pace. I liked that this place lets you pick something unusual instead of just eating odeng the whole time.

A handy tip on the restroom location

Finding the way to the restroom

The restroom location can be a bit confusing on your first visit, so I'm noting this too.

Restroom entrance inside the building

Exit the store to the right, go into the building, and enter through the doorway in the left corner. There was no password needed for the restroom, and tissue was stocked. It's the kind of detail you always end up wondering about at a bar, so it helps to know beforehand.

A table at Odeng Osaek, good for a drink

At Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch, I liked the atmosphere, but what really stuck with me was the sit-down, pick-your-own odeng format. There was something fun about choosing each piece of odeng while drinking. And it wasn't just odeng — there were other snacks to pair with it, like chicken nanban, oi tangtangi, and tomato brûlée.

Table spread of odeng and side snacks

Out of everything I tried, my personal top pick for odeng is definitely the kkobuli!

Leftover odeng and beer at the end of the meal

If you're near Sinnonhyeon Station or Gangnam Station and want a not-too-heavy drink with good snacks, this is worth a visit. The atmosphere and the way of eating were fun enough that I think I'll be back.
